December 5. 8:15 p.m. Just finished getting the oral English lessons to the point where I am ready to print the teacher’s copy and proofread it. Got myself a snack. And have water on heating for bath.
There wasn’t much sunshine today. It was quite warm when we got up this morning, so Daddy didn’t start the fire. However, when it looked like the clouds were going to hang around, he started the fire a little later. The Lord sent rain this afternoon and evening.
Fixed hot rice cereal for breakfast. Had quiet time and then practiced keyboard. Finished marking places for blanks in the next soul-winning lesson. Then printed out a copy for Daddy to proofread. Worked more on putting pictures in the oral English lessons for the students. Had a snack. Then Daddy and I went for a walk about 10:45. The air was humid and close, but it was not hot. The skies were mostly overcast.
When we came back, I put a pot of rice on to cook for dinner. Got out the last piece of chicken. It was small and didn’t have much meat on it so I got out the rest of the chicken mince too. Browned the meat with some onion; added ginger root and other herbs and water; let it cook until the chicken bits were done; then made gravy to go on our rice. I had cooked up some greens a couple days ago so we had those for our veggie today. While dinner was cooking, I started reorganizing the reading and phonics workbooks we will need in the future, trying to think where the readers might be. I can’t think of where else to look for the readers, other than in one of the drums. Hope to get time to do that tomorrow.
This afternoon, I finished putting the pictures in the students’ oral English lessons. Then went back through them to make sure they were all set up correctly. Sunny came and ground barley and corn into flour. At 4:30, I started making biscuits for my supper. At 6:00, the students started arriving for choir practice. We started practicing around 6:15 when there were six of them here. They want to sing John 3:16 and John 1:12,13 on Sunday. We added John 3:16 in English to the Owena one and practiced that for a little while. Then we sang through John 1:12,13 before they started learning the tenor and bass. They hadn’t learned tenor and bass on that one before. At least the tenor and bass are fairly easy on that tune (“Wonderful Words of Life”), and they seemed to get it pretty quickly. We practiced until the men came for Bible school, and then I came back to the oral English lessons. I got a table of contents made up for them, and made sure I had the students’ page numbers noted in the teacher’s copy.
“Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ….” Ephesians 5:20
December 6. Almost 9:00 p.m. Just starting to rain.
The Lord gave us a nice day. We were thankful to have some sunshine for drying the clothes. Before I started getting my breakfast this morning, I got the laundry sorted out and the first load into the laundry tub. Fixed and ate breakfast and read Bible while the clothes were washing. After we hung the clothes out, I had prayer time and then was ready to start the day.
Spent most of the morning proofreading. First finished proofreading the soul-winning lesson. Then proofread the oral English lessons. Also practiced keyboard for a little while. We didn’t go for a walk today. Daddy worked on the extension to the office desk and got that finished. We had our sandwiches at noon because it was too hot for a hot meal.
The men finished making two wall frames today for the meeting room addition.
This afternoon, I finished proofreading the oral English lessons. Then I got the students’ soul-winning lesson set up in the computer, adding blanks and pictures. Also got corrections made in the teacher’s oral English manual.
After supper and dishes, the school students came again for music practice. We got to practice a bit longer this evening as the men were late for Bible school. They had gone home late to have supper so didn’t get here for class until 7:30. After practicing John 3:16 and John 1:12,13, the students wanted to learn parts for “S-A-L-V-A-T-I-O-N”. After the students left, I made corrections in the students’ oral English lessons. Just finished that a few minutes ago.
“10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:10,11
