Lewis Young's Testimony
I was born into a religious home and attended church regularly. I earned many pins for perfect attendance. But I was not saved. I do not remember ever having heard a clear presentation of the gospel in the church I attended. During my college years, on a summer job, I heard the gospel through the witness of a fellow worker. I made a profession of salvation, and not long afterward went into missionary training, where I met Judy. We served on the mission field of Papua New Guinea for over twenty years and saw God change many lives. Although I preached the gospel to others, I never had the witness of the Holy Spirit in my own heart that I was truly saved. How sad it would have been to do a great work and be lost for all eternity! But God was merciful, and in January 2001, I was genuinely converted and know without a doubt that I am a child of the Heavenly Father. God used 1 Thessalonians 1:9,10 to show me my need and bring me to salvation. “For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.” God not only saved me, but allowed me the privilege of returning to the mission field in 2008, having left the field twelve years previously due to health issues in the family.
Judy Young's Testimony
I was born into a Christian home; and, as a five-year-old child, accepted Christ as my personal Saviour. Early in life, I was exposed to missions and had a desire to serve the Lord. However, my Christian life had many ups and downs, as I did not have assurance of salvation, and did not know that I could have that assurance. When I was a college student, God used a number of Scriptures to show me that I was truly His child, and had no need for doubt. The most precious verse He used was John 3:16, a verse I had known most of my life, but never realized the assurance that was offered there. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” I am thankful for that blessed assurance, and for the privilege of serving alongside my husband on the mission field of Papua New Guinea.
