The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few

Matthew 9:36-38 says, "But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;  Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest."

We were blessed with being able to talk to Dad and Mom this evening.  They are doing well.

Dad and Mom asked for prayer that God would send laborers to help in their area of the harvest.  There are so many children and young people.  They need someone especially devoted to work with them and to help them.  They need someone to motivate them to do right and to live for the Lord.  They need someone to come that will be able to do things with them that Dad and Mom cannot do because of their age.

Dad and Mom are praying specifically for partners to help with the children and young people.  They are also praying for young partners whom they can train to take over when Dad and Mom are no longer able to carry on the work.  Will you not pray with them?  Will you go if God calls?

Also, please continue praying for Pastor Nuanda.  He is out in town right now, but he is not doing well.  Perhaps it is due to the high blood pressure and heart problems he has had to deal with since he had complications from typhoid some time ago.  Please pray that God will help him and encourage him.  Pray for him to get well if that is the Lord's will.  When the Apostle Paul gives Christians the description of the Christians' armour in Ephesians chapter 6, he urges the Christian to be "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." (v.18)

Finally, Dad and Mom asked that people pray that God will use his word to work in hearts.  Dad has preached the overview of the book of Romans and has now begun to go through the book of Romans verse by verse.  He and Mom are praying that the Lord will use this in the lives of the Owena people to change their hearts and to direct them in the paths of righteousness and to motivate them to live their lives fully for the Lord.

Thank you to all those who pray.  Dad and Mom expressed thanks today for the churches and individuals who have faithfully prayed for them and given to them.  God bless you all.

School Break

Mom has really enjoyed teaching school to her young pupils.  Wednesday,  May 5, was family day at school.  The children were able to do some things for their parents to demonstrate some of what they have learned.

After this, Dad and Mom prepare to go to town.  They will fly out of the village some time today (Thursday their time).  Thank the Lord for this break that He is giving them.  Please pray that God will protect them while they are in town.  Pray that they will get rested and refreshed for their return to the village some time next week.

And please pray for the students that they will remember the things they have learned and that the spiritual lessons will stick with them for all their lives and bear fruit for eternity.

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them... the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.  (II Timothy 3:14,15)

Also, please be in prayer for Nuanda as he has been quite sick for a while.

Thank you for all your prayers for Dad and Mom and the Lord's work among the Owena people.  Every day God helps Dad and Mom and lifts them up and gives them strength and encouragement for the work.  Your prayers are such a blessing.
