A Very Busy Day!

October 11.  Whew!  What a day it has been!  It is 8:00 p.m., and I am just getting to sit down.  I certainly am glad to get off my feet.

There wasn’t any rain today, but no sun either, except for a few minutes right after we got up this morning.  There was blue sky, and the thin fog evaporated quickly.  In a short time, however, thick fog arose and soon the sky was overcast once again.  So again the wood stove was in use all day.

After breakfast and quiet time, Daddy turned on the generator and I printed out the next Christian Family lesson.  After Bible school last night, he told me he had to find the new lesson.  He thought it was already printed out.  But when I looked in the students’ lesson file, I saw that I hadn’t even transferred it over so I knew that it hadn’t been printed out.  Before bed last night, I got the students’ copy all set up with blanks for them to fill in.  Then it was all ready for printing this morning.  Also got the new prayer sheets printed for Daddy to give out in lotu tomorrow morning.

By the time that was done, it was time to start school.  Music day today.  After prayer, and singing our verses, we reviewed the music flash cards.  Then I had them practice the new exercises with the two new notes they learned last week.

After school, Steve, Sosthenes, and Bonita stayed and practiced keyboard while Daddy and I had lunch.

After nap, I finished grading today’s work and got the grades recorded.  Then I started writing lesson plans for next week.  At 3:30, Sunny came to grind grains for us.  I started her out with the sesame seeds so I could have some tahini butter.  I went back to writing lessons; but after a while, I realized she needed someone to push down the seeds while she was grinding and clean the sticky butter off the wheel too.  So I went and helped her with that.  When that was done, I took apart the grinder and cleaned off the wheel.  Then she ground corn into corn flour and rice into rice cereal.  It was a little after 5:30 when she finished.  We are thankful for her strong arms to help with that job.

A little after 4:00, Tomas came to work more on the king’s throne for the drama.  Daddy went out to help him; and after a while, Kelly came along and helped too.  They got the seat put on today.  Now they just have to make a back for it.

After Sunny left, I started fixing supper.  Daddy was still outside working with Tomas.  It was close to 6:00 when he came back in.  Then he went and started the generator.  I sorted out the laundry so I could get the wash going while we were eating.  When supper was over, and the wash was done, I hung up the towels and shirts in the bathroom, plus my dress and nightgown.  Then I took apart the grinder and got it cleaned out for washing.  Got the dishes and grinder washed, and then had to go make the bed since I had taken it apart so I could wash the sheet and pillow cases.

Daddy is teaching Bible school now.  He started tonight on the section on Christian marriage.  A number of the young people have come for the class.

“13We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; 14Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.”  II Corinthians 4:13,14

October 10.  Some rain during the night.  We saw some patches of blue sky in the west when we got up this morning, but they disappeared quickly - long before the sun could find them.  The sun must have found a little hole early in the afternoon as we had about one minute of sunshine around 1:00.  It has been another day for the wood stove to be kept fired up all day.

There were only some hundreds of flying ants last night, or maybe a thousand.  So there wasn’t nearly as much cleaning up to do this morning.

The last class time of school today was spent trimming and painting boxes with yellow “paint” so we can make fire.  Dallas and Phinehas didn’t find any red “paint” so they’ll have to go look somewhere else.  The “paint” is actually the root of a plant, and is like a large crayon.  They peeled the skin off and “colored” quite a few boxes yellow.  (see picture below post; picture was apparently taken after they found the red.) Then I gave them some soap and a towel and sent them all outside to the water tap to wash their hands.  When they came back in, we had a birthday party for Sunny.  She is 26 today.

I had a long nap today.  The rooster came and crowed by our bedroom less than an hour after we lay down; but I was too tired to get up.  I slept almost another hour after that.  After grading their math worksheets, recording today’s grades, and averaging up their social studies grades, I washed the last five potatoes and a handful of carrots, cut them up in little pieces, and put them on to cook.  When they were done, I added them to the leftover chicken and broccoli to make chicken stew for supper.

Eugene and Esrom came around 4:15 to cut firewood.  We have used a lot of firewood the past few days with all the clouds and rain that make the house chilly.  They had about four friends helping them, and they worked until dark.

After supper, I made sure things were ready for school tomorrow before I did dishes.  Even with all the cups and things from the party today, there were not very many dishes tonight.  I was thankful to be able to get off my feet early.

I just got a worksheet printed for math class tomorrow.

Now people are coming for Bible school.

“5For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.  6For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.  7But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”  II Corinthians 4:5-7

Flying Ants Everywhere!

October 8.  Warm last night and this morning, but no sunshine, or very little sunshine today.  Daddy didn’t start the fire until later in the morning when we could see that the weather was going to be damp and not sunny.  Then he let it go out but had to start it again this afternoon because the weather turned cool and rainy.

After getting up, getting dressed, and taking my early morning supplement, Daddy took the basket of laundry outside for me, and I hung up the clothes I had washed yesterday afternoon.  Then I had my breakfast and quiet time, got the bed made, and did a few other little things before going off to school.

We sang the assurance songs again this morning, and then the students had their Bible test on Daniel chapter 2.  Everyone did well on that, and most of them got 100%.  After we reviewed, they also had a test in Social Studies - writing the names of the continents, oceans, and directions on a blank world map and coloring it according to instructions.  Everyone did a good job on that too.  We will not start a new chapter in Social Studies, but will use that time now to work on making props for the drama.

After school, Esau planted more trees.  We had our lunch and nap.  When I got up, I started cooking the chicken for supper, and prepared and cooked the broccoli and uxai as well.  While those were cooking, I finished grading today’s work and recording grades.  Then I made a pie crust, and made a chicken pot pie with the chicken and veggies I had cooked.  While that was baking, I tried to practice keyboard; but it was a bit too dark, and it was hard for me to see the notes well.

Our supper was ready around 5:30.  It was about 6:30 before I had gotten the kitchen cleaned up and dishes done.  Now I am waiting for the youth to come for choir practice.

“1Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.”  II Corinthians 4:1,2

October 9.  Yesterday evening it rained - water, and flying ants - thousands of them; probably ten thousands of them.  A few of them even climbed in bed with us.  Yuk!  At least they don’t bite.  But it is hard to sleep with little creeping things crawling all over your body.  When we got up this morning, what a mess the house was!  Floors, tables, cupboards, sinks, windows - everything covered with ants, hundreds of them still moving and hundreds still flying around.  We never saw so many flying ants at one time.  We spent about a half hour sweeping up and wiping up ants and disinfecting the counter tops and table top.

I finally got to have my breakfast and read my Bible before people came for lotu.  There were still hundreds of flying ants around, and they were crawling all over the floor.  The people couldn’t get over it, yet they didn’t see the half.  They don’t have lights in their homes so the ants don’t come into their homes like they do in ours.  There are still a few crawling around this evening.

Amos preached on Acts 2:5-13 this morning and did fine.  A young lady from Marivo was here with a new baby girl so I got out some baby clothes for her after lotu.  We started school around 8:30 so we were able to cover quite a bit in phonics class this morning.  I would like to try to finish this unit by the end of the year.  We have six more lessons to go and about three more weeks so we should be able to finish without any problem.  The last week of school, we’ll be concentrating on practicing for the drama so probably won’t have any classes.  Since we finished classes early today, I took time to go over the rest of the drama with them.

After school, Tomas brought down the metal chair frame that Phinehas had taken home to see if his father could make it into a throne for the king.  He had some ideas but needed tools so he worked on it out here during our lunch and nap time.  Got some ooqdi pieces put across the front and back so we can nail a piece of plywood on for a seat.  Then we need to make a back for it.

After lunch and nap, there was lots to do - get a gift bag ready for Sunny; get things ready for her party tomorrow (get out the party table cover, wash apples and bananas and organize some on the tray and some in a bowl, roast peanuts to put in the peanut cups later, get cookies and lollies ready, get out cups and drink mix so I can get the drink made first thing in the morning); finish grading today’s work and recording grades; get things ready for classes tomorrow; cut up the good parts of two bad apples and cook them to use on my pancakes on Sunday, and fix supper.  After supper, I got the rest of the peanut cups filled, put away the extra peanuts, and strained the honey water off the honeycomb before doing dishes.  A Waisara boy brought us a nice-looking piece of honeycomb yesterday.  He assured us it did not have any bees in it.  It did have bees, however.  Looked like they were baby bees as the honeycomb had lots of eggs in it too.  So today I just covered the honeycomb with water and heated it on the wood stove.  Then I strained off the water to use in baking and threw away the honeycomb.  We didn’t want the K2 to be completely wasted.

This evening, the Bible school men are here.  It has been a few weeks since they have had Bible school since a couple of them were gone with the youth to youth camp, and last week Daddy was gone to town.

“3But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”  II Corinthians 4:3,4

A Beautiful Day!

October 6.  What a beautiful day the Lord gave us!  Sunshine all day.  I heard the lotu bell ring before 6:00.  And I heard a knock on the door at 6:00.  But I wasn’t up yet although soon to get up.  In a little while, I was up and dressed, turned on the mobile, and was ready to start fixing pancakes for my breakfast.  I wondered what Daddy would be having for breakfast this morning, but I didn’t think to ask him when he called.  There were other things to talk about.  I did not start the fire this morning.  As soon as the temperature got up to about 70 outside, I opened the back door.  I guess that was around 8:00.

After breakfast and quiet time, I finished sewing the sleeve hems of the blouse of which I had cut off the long sleeves.   Then I practiced keyboard until around 9:00.  Some of the children had already brought a lot of flowers, but I went out and cut some of ours too.  Then I worked on the application lesson for Daniel 1-3 for about a half hour.

People started coming early for lotu so I shut down the computer and went out to talk to David who had come first.

Tomas started the song service around 10:15.  There were quite a few people already here.  Matthew didn’t preach today but told about God’s blessings and care for them as they went to youth camp, as they were there, and as they returned.  After he talked, the youth sang “Peman I Bin Kam” (“The Redeemer Has Come”).  Then Amos took a few minutes to tell the church how God had used what had happened to work in his life and give him a blessing.

Between meetings, Matthew and David met with the four youth and their fathers (except for Luke’s father who is not saved and was not here).  While they were meeting, I had my lunch and even had time for an hour nap before the lotu bell rang for the afternoon meeting.

Amos had more enthusiasm in his song leading than I have ever seen him have before.  That was a joy to see.  Then David continued his teaching on soul-winning, talking about following the example of Christ in preaching the word, and the importance of giving them Old Testament teaching as a foundation.  Also encouraged any and all to get involved.

Afterwards they decided on a time for the youth to help David’s mother plant a peanut garden, about bringing a special offering next week of things to give Maro’s mother to replace what she lost in the fire, about visiting some people in the ward, and about doing something to help Janeth who had her baby this past Monday.

When they finished meeting, I went out and said good-bye to people and also found out from Matthew how things went with their meeting with the youth.  He said it went really well and all of them said that the counselors had used the Bible when they counseled with them and showed them their state as sinners and their need to repent and believe on Jesus Christ.  Luke hadn’t told Matthew that before.  But all of them seemed certain that they had gotten saved.  Matthew kept going over and over some verses with them on assurance until they all understood how important it is to have something from the Word upon which their faith can stand.

What was left of the afternoon, I worked more on the application lesson in Daniel.  Then I swept the schoolroom because it had gotten really dirty today and started setting up for school in the morning.  Then I had to make some biscuits for my supper as my bread was all gone.

After supper, I finished setting up the schoolroom and then practiced the verses songs on the keyboard some more so I can help the kids sing them properly tomorrow.

“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.”  II Corinthians 2:11

October 7.  Was awake around 4:30 this morning and never got back to a good sleep.  Got up a few minutes before 6:00.  It was a warm morning, 59º, so I didn’t start the fire.  There was plenty else to do.

Thank the Lord, there was no rain yesterday or last night.  And there was no fog this morning although the sky was cloudy.  We never did get much sun today, but the weather was warm, and quite humid too.  We even had the door open during school, and we rarely are able to open the door without cold wind blowing in.

In Bible class this morning, I shared my testimony with the students about the struggle I had for years with doubts about my salvation because I did not have a Bible foundation for assurance.  So I encouraged them to hold on to some Bible verses and keep them in their hearts.  Then we sang Romans 10:9,10,13; John 3:16; and John 1:1,12,13.  Then I asked them questions about the verses because I want them to understand what the verses mean.  After that, we reviewed Daniel chapter 2 so they could prepare for the test tomorrow.

Most everyone had finished their math work today when the plane came.  They all went to help carry cargo.  Then Phinehas and Sosthenes helped bring the boxes into the kitchen while Bethuel gave out the chocolates.  Then we had spelling class.

After the men brought the generator down, they worked on setting it up.  It is bigger than the other one so they had to make the bed a little bigger.  They had to put fuel in it and plug it up.  Then Daddy tried it out.  Praise the Lord, it is working!  Papindo offered to try it out for him, but there wouldn’t have been time for the fuel to dry out before the plane flight.  So they told Daddy if it didn’t work to just bring it back.  That was thoughtful of them.

It certainly is good to have Daddy back home.  A week away is absolutely too long.  He did a lot of the unpacking while I was still in school, and then I did some later.

It was almost 2:00 before I got down for nap, and I didn’t sleep very well.  After nap, I did more putting away and straightening up.  Then I finished grading and recording grades.  Made sure things were ready for classes tomorrow.  Sorted out the laundry.

Daddy started the generator around 4:45, and I started the wash.  Around 5:30, I started getting supper on - tuna sandwiches.  Then I hung up the shirts, blouses, dresses, and towels in the bathroom before doing dishes.  (I’ll hang the other things outside first thing in the morning.)  By that time I was pretty tired, ready to sit down.  Came to the computer to print out Sunny’s math lesson sheet for tomorrow, only to realize that I had never cropped and resized the scans and transferred them to this computer.  So I had to do that first.  Finally finished that and transferred them to this computer.  Then I got them fixed up in Sunny’s file and printed out the lessons for the rest of this week.

In the mean time, Matthew came to talk to Daddy and tell him about the youth camp.  Now it is after 9:00.

“17Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.  18But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”  II Corinthians 3:17,18

Rain, Rain, Rain!

October 4.  Rained all night and rained all day.  It has stopped now, and everything is quiet except for the inverter running, the fire crackling in the firebox, and water dripping into the bucket from the chimney.  I was thankful I had not used firewood on Tuesday and Wednesday because I probably would not have had enough for today.  Even with the fire going all day, it has been quiet cool in the house.  Have had a sweatshirt on since mid-afternoon.

Not only was it rainy, it was foggy, very foggy.  The whole world around us was immersed in fog.  The fog lifted a little bit, but never lifted off the mountains.  Then around noon it started coming back down again.  It was impossible for the plane to get in today.  Consequently Daddy was not able to get home.  Boo Hoo!

Since the water coming through the pipes was murky today, I filled the empty buckets with rain water that has been running from the leaks and collecting in the little buckets.

After breakfast this morning, I cleaned out the freezer, hoping that Daddy would be coming and bringing food home.  Also put the last two eggs on to boil for sandwiches.

Graham was not in school today.  He was sick with an earache.  Quite a few of the students have colds.  I was happy to get all the grading done in school.  There wasn’t that much to do today.  We didn’t do a worksheet in math, and they didn’t finish their English lesson.  They could have finished, but I wanted to take some time to talk with them about getting things ready for the drama.  I showed them what I already have for props, and they are thinking about what they can do to make the other props.  Dallas and Phinehas are going to get yellow and red paint to make the fires.  Phinehas said he thinks his dad can help him make a throne out of that old chair frame.  They have some kind of plant in the bush too that they can use to make the statue.

After everyone left, I fixed my sandwiches, had lunch, and recorded grades.  Then I filled up the firebox and lay down for nap.  I guess I had a pretty good rest because when I woke up and looked at the clock, an hour had gone by.  I got up and filled the firebox again.  Then worked on lesson plans until supper time.  I didn’t want to use the computer too much today since there was no sun to recharge the battery.

Around 3:30, I put a pot of soup beans and rice on the wood stove to cook, with extra water so I could have soup.  Added some onion; and after it cooked, I added the rest of the tomato paste so it wouldn’t go bad.  I got the math lesson plans for next week finished before supper, and did the English and social studies lessons after supper.

“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”  II Corinthians 1:20

October 5.  The rain finally stopped early last evening.  It was very foggy again when I got up this morning, but it looked like the fog would lift today.  It did, and the Lord gave us a lovely sunshiney morning.  This afternoon was more cloudy with some sun off and on; and late afternoon, the rains came again.  The rain has stopped right now.

Got up a few minutes earlier this morning so I could wash up a bit.  It was too chilly to wash up before bed last night.  I also had to make a fire.  Didn’t get to get the fire ready yesterday or last night because I kept it burning all day.  Later last evening, it turned quite chilly too so I didn’t let the fire go out until almost bedtime.  At least the flying ants weren’t here last night like they were the night before.  There are a few this evening, but not enough to be a nuisance like they were Thursday evening.

After I got the fire going and got my breakfast, I went and sat in the recliner.  Then Daddy called so I talked to him while I was eating.  Then it was time for lotu.  Daniel was the first one here this morning.  Then Wenera and one of his daughters.  There must have been around 40 here, and they came at a good time.  Tomas did a good job teaching, this time telling the story of Isaac and using that as an example to show that man is unable to save himself from death.

After lotu, Apekio, Victoria, and Espina swept the floor.  Dallas and Frances cut firewood.  While the ladies were sweeping, I got clean sheets put on the bed.  Apekio had brought a couple little pumpkins so I had her cut one up for me before she left.  I put it on the wood stove to cook.  Then I put the Canon printer over on the table and plugged it into the inverter so I could do some photo copying.  Afterward, I made some crackers and some chocolate cookies and had a little snack.  Later, Taro came with some bananas.  Before lunch, I looked for the music to “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” so I could fit some verses (Romans 10:9,10,13) to the music.

For lunch I toasted the last two slices of my bread (after I cut the mold off) and mashed up the last egg with mayonnaise and mustard and made an egg salad sandwich and also a peanut butter/honey sandwich.  Then I had my nap.

After nap, I emptied the ashes, washed my hair, got things ready for the fire in the morning, cleaned the bathroom, swept the office and kitchen, swept the part of the meeting room around the pulpit because I saw it hadn’t been done, covered the books, and locked the school cupboard.  Then I scanned some music and a math sheet and worked at the computer until supper time.  Had some of the pumpkin and some of the soup that I made yesterday, except that it was no longer soup today.  All the rice, barley, and lentils had swollen and taken up all the liquid.

After supper, I did the dishes and also heated water for bath.  I wanted to get my bath early while it was still pretty warm in here.  Everything was ready, and I was about to get the bath water ready when there was a knock at the door.  It was Matthew, and he spent a while storying about the youth camp and the trip back and forth.  After he left, I reheated the bath water (it didn’t take long because it hadn’t cooled off that much) and enjoyed my bath.  It was a little bit chilly in the bathroom, but not too bad yet.

“21Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 22Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.”  II Corinthians 1:21,22

October 2.  A warm night last night.  It only got down to 59.5º.  So again I did not start the fire this morning.  Didn’t have time to look after it anyway.  By the time I had my breakfast and quiet time and talked to Daddy, it was time for lotu.  Hardly any sunshine today, although it was quite muggy and warm.  Late this afternoon, the Lord sent rain, and it has been rainy and cooler this evening.

There were quite a few people here this morning and they came fairly early.  Amos did well in his teaching.  There were lots of prayer requests.  Amos said the Lord did a work in his heart while he was there.

After lotu, it was back to school.  Looks like we’ll need a lot more review in math to get some of them back on track in some areas.  It was 12:30 when school finished.  I warmed up my lunch, graded their English lessons, and recorded today’s grades before having nap.

After nap, I worked on finding music and playing and checking more songs.  I went to the kitchen about 5:15 to get supper; but it was 5:45 before I got to eat because people came to the door.

After supper, I made changes in songs in the song files.

“13Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.  14Let all your things be done with charity.”  I Corinthians 16:13,14

October 3.  Lots of rain last night.  So I did start the fire this morning.  Even though it was just as warm as yesterday morning, it was damper so felt chillier.  More rain again late this afternoon, but it is not raining now.

Last night after bath, I got busy working on spoken English lessons and never thought of looking at the time.  When I finally did, it was 10:15.  So I hurried and shut down the computer, got my teeth brushed, and went to bed.  I overslept a little bit this morning.

Quickly threw together a small batch of pancakes for my breakfast.  There are some left for tomorrow morning too.  Tried to talk to Daddy and get the stubborn fire going and cook my pancakes all at the same time.  I did finally get to eat my breakfast.

In Bible class this morning, I gave the students time to tell about their week at youth camp.  That took up the whole class time.  I tried to get everyone involved, but Dallas and Phinehas did the most talking.  They said all the meetings centered around salvation; and even though it was all in English, they were able to understand a lot of it because it was what they have been hearing here about repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.  Bethuel and Bonita shared about their salvation.  And Esau said that he had realized that he was not truly saved so made sure that he was.  He knew that there was no joy in his life, and I had seen that as well.  He so often seemed like he was carrying a heavy burden.  They said there were over 600 people there — mostly youth, but some adults who had come with them.  That was those who ate and slept there.  Then there were people from the area who came in for some of the meetings.  They also saw a video about the end times — one-world government, 666, etc.

In social studies class today, we had a geography match.  They had a lot of fun doing that, and it was a good way for them to review.

We finished school around 12:30.  Then I had my lunch, finished grading today’s work, and recorded grades.  Then it was nap time.

After nap, I looked for the verse visuals for verses they had learned before which give assurance of salvation.  They really need to get some verses firmly memorized so they can tell how they know they are saved.  Wanted to get some music for singing Romans 10:9,10,13 too.  Finally was able to put it to the tune of ‘The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

Then I made sure everything else was ready for school tomorrow, practiced music for a short while, and started lesson plans for next week.  Finished phonics plans before having supper.  After supper, I got the fire box ready for starting the fire in the morning.  Then I did the dishes.

“3Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 4Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”  II Corinthians 1:3,4

They Went Out with Singing and Came Back with Rejoicing

September 30.  Praise the Lord for His grace and mercy today!  I woke up early this morning and didn’t see any sense in just lying there in bed so got up a little early—about 10 minutes before 6:00.  The Lord gave us a lovely morning—blue skies, pink clouds.  There was lots of fog too; but it was fast-moving fog so the plane could have easily come in here by 8:00.  However, they changed their schedule so it was after 10:30 before Daddy left for town.  The Lord sent a few sprinkles of rain this afternoon and good cloud cover for the hikers.  But the sun came back out again later.

Right after breakfast this morning, I hung out the clothes that we washed last night.  Then I had quiet time; gathered up the trash to be burned later; and spent more time playing some of the songs in the song book and making changes where needed.  Then I had a snack and relaxed a bit in the recliner.  After Daddy left, I got the clothes in and then had about a half hour nap before there was a knock on the door.  Gibson wanted the key to the generator shed.  One of his chickens was sitting on eggs in there.  I told him that Daddy had found a broken egg in there yesterday.  After he put the eggs and mama chicken in a box and brought them out, he said that it looked like a dog had probably eaten several eggs.  I think he said there were just four left.  Mama chicken was putting up quite a fuss about being removed from the nest she had made in there.

It was getting close to noon by then so I got my dinner.  Cooked up some rice pasta, added onions and tuna, and made a cream sauce to go on it.  Had a plateful of that with some greens.  Then I cleaned out the pressure cooker so I could put the pumpkin and left over pasta in it.  Erik came to get some salt and oil for the ladies to use in cooking the greens they were preparing along with other food for the hungry crowd that was on their way home from the youth camp.  He said that they were already down at the river.

While I was eating, and afterward, I made corrections in the song files.  Then I had my afternoon nap.  When I got up, there was a gentle rain falling; but the sun was coming out, and I could see the rain was going to stop soon.  So I took the trash out to burn it.  While I was out there, Elisapet came for water.  I talked with her for a while.  She said that everyone was possibly on their way up already.

When I came back inside, I washed my hair and then cut a piece of popo and had that for snack along with a banana.  Got things ready for starting the fire in the wood stove in the morning.

A little later, I heard things hitting the generator shed (and maybe the generator too) and looked out to see some children throwing stones at the generator shed. (Later when I went down to look, I saw that they were not stones but some kind of small unripe fruit.)  After I hollered at them four times, and they kept coming back, I finally went out and asked Gibson, Tomas, and Erik if they would take care of the matter.  (The men were sitting up on the hill talking while the women were preparing food.)  The boys must have seen me go up because they ran off.

Put a couple eggs on to boil, and then worked on checking II Timothy until time to get my supper and while I was eating.  Was thankful to have finished II Timothy.  Then I shut down the computer and started the dishes.  One of the young boys came with a note from Matthew asking for batteries for the loud speaker.  Apparently they had taken the speaker with them.  After a while, I could hear music playing.  The group of young people and chaperons came back rejoicing, playing the music on the loud speaker all the way through the village until they got here.

Phinehas came to the door to get biscuits and lollies for two of the little ones who were happy to see him back.  Talked with him just a few minutes as the ladies were waiting for them all to come.  He said they had played music and sung songs all the way there and back, around town, and while they were there.  People shook their hands and gave them little gifts.  Phinehas had charged three batteries for his phone before he left so he could keep changing them to use for playing the music.  He was able to charge them again at youth camp.  They also bought batteries for the lound speaker, but the batteries gave out before they got here.  Also shook hands with Bethuel, Sosthenes, and Dallas as they came by.  Haven’t seen the other students yet.  They said they will need to rest tomorrow and will start school again on Wednesday.  I told them I want to hear their stories when they come back to school.

The ladies had prepared a couple songs to sing too (besides the food) to welcome everyone back.  I’m so thankful that the young people went out with singing and came back with rejoicing.  I finally got the dishes done and now am ready to relax for the evening.

“57But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  58Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”  I Corinthians 15:57,58

October 1.  Looked out the window and saw lots and lots of bright twinkling stars last night before bed so thought it would be pretty cold this morning.  However, it was only down to 58º when I got up so I did not start the fire in the wood stove.  It was a lovely morning, and the air soon began to warm up.  Since it was getting warmer faster outside than in, I opened the back door around 8:00.

The first thing I did this morning was make granola.  While it was baking, I cut up a piece of popo and a banana and had that to eat.  Had a bowl of granola after it came out of the oven.  Had my quiet time too.  Got the bed made and then spent some time finding music and playing songs to make sure they fit right to the tunes.  At 10:00, I took a break and had a snack.  Folded the clothes that we had washed Sunday evening.  Worked until dinner time on checking Titus.  Warmed up leftover tuna/noodles that I had made yesterday and had that and pumpkin for my dinner.  Finished checking Titus before I went for nap.

After nap, I went out for a little stretch in the sunshine.  Had more popo and banana for snack.  Got out some of the things that we’ll be using in the drama and put them in boxes so I can show them to the students.  Then checked the book of Philemon.  That didn’t take long.  Took a little stretch and then started working on September’s progress report.  Fixed a couple sandwiches for my supper.  Cut the sleeves of a long-sleeved blouse short and started hemming them up until it got too dark in the bedroom to see.  Almost finished one sleeve.  Then I took the garbage out to the garbage hole before it got too dark.  Now we are getting little sprinkles of rain.

“For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.”  I Corinthians 16:9

September 28.  Cloudy most of the day with some blue sky and sunshine.  Mike was in charge of lotu this morning and continued his teaching on Christ’s love manifest in our lives, using Scritures from 1 John 2 and 4.  There was a good number here this morning.  They said that Bethuel and Sunny’s brother, Luke, got saved.  (Also found out a couple days later that Bonita got saved.)  Praise the Lord!  So now eight of my school students are saved, and there is one more who needs to be saved—Steve.

    Please pray for Steve’s salvation!

After lotu, I got the bed made.  Then practiced keyboard for a while before we went for a walk.  It was a pleasant morning for a walk.  All the clouds today were big, some gray and some white.

After walk, I made some corrections in the song file.  Then worked until dinner time on checking II Timothy.  While dinner was warming up, I got the dry ingredients together for a loaf of bread since Daddy finished his bread yesterday.  After we ate, I got the wet ingredients mixed in, kneaded the bread, and set it to rise while we had our nap.

When I got up, the bread was ready to go into the oven.  While it was cooking, I worked more on the song file and then on the spoken English lessons.  Before supper, I got the bathroom cleaned.

“And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.”  I Corinthians 15:49

September 29.  It was a cool, cloudy day.  A little bit of sunshine here and there.  And some rain too.  But, all in all, it was a good day as we rejoiced with Wenera over his salvation.

Just made one batch of pancakes for breakfast this morning as I don’t have any more rice, barley, or corn flour.  Will have to have Sunny grind some after Daddy gets back from town and can help set up the grinder.  There was no fruit to make syrup for my pancakes, except for dates.  So I made a date syrup and added some ginger.

After breakfast, quiet time, and exercise, I played the keyboard for over an hour, checking over a number of the songs from the song book we are working on as I seek to make the final copy for printing.  In the few minutes that were left before lotu, I made the corrections in the computer.

There were quite a few people here before either Tomas or Mike arrived so Daddy gathered people in to start singing.  There was nobody to lead the singing so we just sang.  When Mike came, he took over the song service; and by then, Tomas had arrived too.  After the singing, Tomas took care of the announcements and did the preaching.  Before the preaching, Wenera gave his testimony again for the sake of those who weren't here on Wednesday, and then I sang, “A New Name in Glory.”  Tomas preached from Genesis, showing how Adam and Eve, and later Cain, tried to make themselves acceptable to God by their own works.  Explained that God will not accept man’s works, but that man can only come to God through faith in the shed blood of the Lamb.

After the meeting, I got some pictures of Wenera and his family and also Wenera and Tomas together since Tomas had a big part in leading Wenera to Christ.  Tomas also had the privilege of baptizing him.  Then we had our dinner and nap; and the church folks had their fellowship dinner before going down to the river for the baptism.

Daddy got the fire going again before nap because the weather was so chilly.  This afternoon, I spent working on the spoken English lessons for next school year.  Then I had Daddy cut up the pumpkin for me so I wouldn’t have to try to cut that up myself after he is gone.  Put that on the wood stove to cook so it is ready for me to eat the next few days.   Then I got supper and did dishes.  After doing dishes, Daddy started the generator.  I sorted out the clothes and got them all washed so we don’t have to run the generator again in the morning.  Hung the shirts and a few other items in the bathroom so they won’t get all wrinkled sitting in the basket over night.  Just finished the laundry so now I can relax for the rest of the evening.

“51Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”  I Corinthians 15:51,52
