May 27. The Lord gave us a nice morning. This afternoon, the sky got dark, the strong winds blew, and God sent His thunder and lightning, but only a little rain. The temperature dropped quite a bit.
School is going well. We did two lessons in math class today as everyone has been doing so well. Just don’t want to keep dragging things out when they are capable of doing more. And there wasn’t anything new. Just more practice on what they have already learned. They also did their second speed drill today. A few of them are having a little hard time, but hopefully it will come after a while.
“16Rejoice evermore. 17Pray without ceasing. 18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
May 28. Colder this morning when we got up, but didn’t take long to warm up.
Had a Bible quiz race today. The two teams tied.
I spent extra time in tokples class this morning trying to teach the children how to think, to train themselves to think about the sounds they hear, see, and say and not just say them without thinking. I didn’t know if it got through, or not; but when I looked at their spelling papers later, I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone had all the letters correct in all the words, and a few missed only tone marks. I had two games planned for tokples class today; but after spending extra time on spelling, we only had time for one. That one showed the need for more of the same. They say all the letters of the alphabet, but do not think about what they are saying. The game was a race to see which team could put all the letters of the alphabet in order first. They had a hard time. So we will definitely play it again.
Did two lessons again today in math class. And another speed drill.
The man who got bit by a snake yesterday afternoon survived through the night, recovered, and did not have to go out to the hospital this morning. It was one of the SDA men. We pray that he will consider the brevity of life, that his life could have ended yesterday for all eternity without Christ.
“16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, 17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.” 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
May 29. Foggy this morning, but the Lord sent sunshine later. Thankful for the sun, especially on wash day. Rain this afternoon and evening.
Wanted to work outside this morning for exercise, but there were strangers around; and I feel uncomfortable being stared at while trying to work. So took my 10-minute walk around the schoolroom. Then I cleaned everything off the shelves in Connie’s room, and Daddy painted the poles with pennyroyal. The shelves were thick with dust from the bug-eaten poles. Packed most of Connie’s stuff in plastic bags in boxes so it should be better protected that way.
Worked on the computer while the generator was on this morning. Got some visuals made for Bible class when not at the computer. Late this afternoon, I cleaned the bathroom. Then made granola, as well as sour milk cookies for Daddy.
‘For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.’ 1 Timothy 4:10
May 30. No more rain during the night, and just a few sprinkles this afternoon. Enjoyed playing the keyboard a bit this morning, the first chance I’ve had to do that for a while. Daddy continued preaching Romans 1 today, verses 3-6 in the first meeting, and verse 7 in the second. Luke translated the first meeting and Nuxawai the second. Luke actually did very well this morning, the best I have heard him do.
Praise God that His Word is true, and that it never changes! We can always know what the truth is if we have a hunger for it.
After second lotu, we had youth leaders’ meeting. Ben came today. Devit was also here — came back from Gimi yesterday. Philip came again, and also Epekio.
We had a short nap. Got up when Daddy realized it was raining and the little solar lights were still outside for charging. Rain didn’t last long, however. I cut up the popos that were getting over-ripe and made popo crisp. Then the girls came for teachers’ meeting for school. After that they wanted to check books out to read. I put water on to heat for dishes and did the dishes before supper — there were oodles of them. It was about 5:30 when we had supper.
“9Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.” 2 Timothy 1:9-10
