May 23. Half inch rain last night, but a beautiful day today. Lots of blue sky and sunshine. After breakfast this morning, I got soup beans on to cook for dinner. Had cooked the veggies yesterday, so just put everything together at noon, and had our veggie soup for dinner. Took my 10-minute walk around the schoolroom to get exercise. At 9:00, we went out and talked to Christy and Connie. It was a blessing to hear that they both had good results from their blood tests.
Daddy preached this morning and afternoon on Romans 1:2, showing Old Testament prophecies containing God’s promises regarding the Messiah, particularly Isaiah 53.
After supper, I did dishes, cleaned up the kitchen, and put away the corn. Worked at the computer a bit before Javin and family came. Judy was fine as long as she stayed close to her Mama. She is learning to talk now, and will probably soon be walking. I got several pictures of her. She didn’t care much about cake so I gave her a banana. She wasn’t quite sure about taking her presents out of the gift bags. But after she got started, she was fine and enjoyed taking out each item. Had three little dresses for her, a set of drinking cups, and a little ball. I put the ball in the very bottom of the second bag. As I expected, she was most excited about that. Gave Jerry and Frina each a little napkin full of goodies — cookies, lollies, and bubble gum. They went home around 8:00. After that, I made popcorn for my snack, and we worked more at the computer.
"The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me." Psalm 138:8
May 24. Hot day today. No rain.
Students did very well in school today. They are catching on very well to spelling, and to law and order in language and math. Everyone got 100% in tokples spelling except for Bonita. They did have a hard time in English class, not knowing when to say “There is…” or “There are…” and not remembering to put “s” on words for the plural. We will practice more on that tomorrow.
Daddy spent a half hour this morning chasing a huge spider around the office. He sprayed it and whacked at it, and it still wouldn’t die. (Too bad Mom didn't get a video. ☺ )
It came out again this afternoon, and we think he finally got it. It is hard to know for sure if it revived and went away somewhere, or if it died and fell down inside the wall somewhere.
There were lots of dead bees in the schoolroom windows this morning. I swept them all out, and more bees came in later in the morning. Don’t know where they are coming from or why they come into the schoolroom windows. They just keep coming, and then they die there.
“1If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.” Colossians 3:1-4
May 25. “2Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; 3Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: 4That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. 5Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. 6Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” Colossians 4:2-6
May 26. A cloud fell out of the sky again about 1:30 last night. The loud crash on the roof woke me up.
Daddy started a series in lotu this morning on Knowing the Will of God, starting with prerequisites to knowing the will of God, taken from Pastor Surrett’s notes. Ben translated for him.
The children are doing so well in math class, that I think some days I can probably cover two lessons. There is a lot of repetition in the lessons. Most all of them are getting 100% on all their papers.
