March 20. It was cold last night and early this morning. But the Lord sent sunshine, and things soon warmed up. I was awakened a couple times in the night with a coughing spell so what sleep I was getting was interrupted. Consequently, I did not wake up this morning until I heard the lotu bell from down below.
Got up and warmed up pancakes for my breakfast. Cut up an apple, and made some apple syrup to go on my pancakes. Had quiet time. By then it was about 7:30, a half hour past time for lotu to start. There were just a couple people here, but not the preacher. Daddy had David start the singing. Tomas came in about 10 minutes later. He said he just got back from Pinata yesterday afternoon and was really tired and was getting a cold too so did not wake up early this morning. He had a good message, using the little tract booklet on faith, and teaching on what faith is. It is a blessing to see how he thinks through the things that he reads in the booklets and tries to help others understand them too.
The school kids had said they wanted to practice choir music today, but quite a few of them have gone off somewhere so we did not have practice. Dallas and Phinehas stayed and practiced keyboard.
While they were practicing, I finished up an e-mail to Christy and Connie and then sent it off.
Daddy decided to go for a walk so I decided to go too. It was such a nice morning, and the sunshine felt so good. Daddy took the upper trail to the top of the airstrip and then came back down. I took the cross trail over to the airstrip and then came back to the yard. (That is the farthest I have ventured away from the house in a good while.) Walked around the yard a bit before coming back into the house. Decided that a cranberry Emergen-C would taste good after I had been out in the sunshine. After that I swept our bedroom before sitting down again at the computer. Wanted to get as much done as I could on the updates so I could get them sent out this evening.
About ten to twelve I went to the kitchen to warm up leftovers for dinner. Then I remembered that I was supposed to peel and cook carrots. It didn’t take too long to get them peeled, and they don’t take long to cook so we didn’t have to wait too long for our dinner.
By the time we went to nap, the weather had started changing. A cool wind was blowing in so we had to shut some of the windows. It had turned quite chilly and was all overcast by the time we got up from nap. It is raining this evening.
This afternoon, I worked more on the updates. And this evening, I am trying to send them off, but they seem to be having a hard time going out. Also finished a keyboard test for Dallas and Phinehas to take on Friday and got that printed out. Need to print out more music pages for them to practice too.
“….one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.” John 9:25b
March 21. Slept in until about 6:15 this morning. Fixed hot rice cereal for breakfast. Had quiet time and walked a little bit.
Phinehas came and practiced keyboard. He said Dallas said he was going to come and then go to the kunai later, but he must have changed his mind. He never showed up. I worked on math lesson plans and got those done.
Then Daddy and I went for a little walk. The Lord gave us a lovely sunny morning with lots of blue sky. The sun felt good, although the air was still somewhat cool at 9:30 this morning.
Came back and had a drink and snack. Then got busy at the computer. About 11:15, I went for a morning nap. Up about noon and warmed up our dinner.
After dinner, I worked on school lessons in the computer for a while. Then sorted and washed greens that Reson had brought today. Washed some green onions too. Worked a little more on school lessons. Had a snack. Then cut up the greens and onions and got them ready to be cooked later. (Oops! I almost forgot that they had to be cooked so just went and turned on the burner.) They will be for our dinner tomorrow.
About the middle of the afternoon, the weather turned cool and very windy, and a big storm came up. Strong winds blew from the south, and heavy rain fell. Quite a bit of water blew into the house through the south windows. We kept busy finding rags and mopping up water until the storm finished.
After that, I had my afternoon nap. I could hear lots of thunder rumbling and rolling on and on and on. Sounded like we were in an Imax with surround sound. After nap, I started making some whole wheat crackers and some healthy cookies for me to have for snacks. Stopped to fix supper and eat. Then put the crackers in the oven and got the cookies put onto the cookie sheets. They just finished cooking.
Got the dishes done and printed out some music sheets to give my keyboard students tomorrow.
“2But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 4And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.” John 10:2-5
March 22. Praise the Lord for giving me a little better sleep last night. I’ve been asking the Lord for a little more sleep at night, but have told Him I’ll be thankful for whatever sleep He gives me.
The Lord sent us more rain during the night, and it is raining now. He did give us a nice sunny morning again, but I did not get to go out for a walk this morning. A little before time to go out walking, Phinehas and Dallas showed up for their keyboard lesson. I was actually glad they came early as class was a fair bit longer today. We played a game first to review the terms they have learned, and then they had a test - their first test. Phinehas did really well; and Dallas did pretty well, but got his alphabet mixed up - g before f, so he missed quite a few points on writing the letter names of the notes in a song.
Before the boys came, I was in the middle of writing another song for the school students to sing during the anniversary meetings. During the night last night, I thought of a song based on John 15 to write to the tune of “Constantly Abiding.”
After the test, I gave them some new pieces for practicing left hand F and right hand G. Then they learned A in the treble staff and practiced an exercise that they will work on for that as well as a new little Bible song with A in it.
After they left, I finished writing the song I had started. Then it was about time to start dinner - spaghetti today. Was thankful for a pretty good nap this afternoon. Most of the rest of the afternoon was spent making sure I had things ready to print and scan this evening for school next week. Just finished up a bunch of printing, photo-copying, and scanning. Daddy is in Bible school, and I need to get journal notes ready to send off to Christy and Connie.
“7Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 9I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:7-10
