The Lord is Gracious

Hello everyone!  The Lord is gracious.

Last night we received a call from Dad and Mom.  They are doing well.

Yesterday Dad finished teaching on what it means to be an Independent Fundamental Baptist.  He wanted the people to really understand what the Bible says about a local church and how an Independent Fundamental Bible believing church should operate.  They thank the Lord for the good response from the people.  Thank you for praying.  And pray that the Lord continues to build a people for His glory in the village of Owena.

Also, please keep praying for rain.  The spring that supplied water for the village is no longer high enough to fill the water pipes.  Dad and Mom improvised by putting a 55 gallon drum under the guttering.  They were able to collect enough water to fill some containers and the water filter.  However, they are once again in need of rain.  Pray that God will send showers of blessing spiritually and physically to the village of Owena and to the Eastern Highlands and Western Highlands provinces of Papua New Guinea.

Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. Psalm 119:2

Some Good News!

I John chapters 1 and 2 in Pidgin and Owena languages

Greetings Everyone!

We were able to talk with Dad and Mom on the phone on Saturday evening.  They had some good news to share of the Lord’s blessings.  A man named Andreas, who is from the Netherlands, was able to come and help them with their generator.  The problem was not with the generator itself.  The generator is strong enough to power more than one house and was wired to several houses, and there was a short in the wiring in one of those houses.  After this short was bypassed, the generator worked fine.  Thank the Lord.  God bless you, Andreas, and thank you for being willing to help.

The Lord has also sent three inches of rain to the Owena people.  Please continue to pray as the Eastern Highlands and Western Highlands continue to experience drought and food shortage.  But thank the Lord for how He has recently blessed with rain.

God also answered prayer for Dad and Mom in that they were able to sell the water tank that could not be brought into the village.

God has answered specific prayers in these areas, and Dad and Mom are waiting expectantly for the Lord to answer prayers in regard to the spiritual needs there among the Owena people.  Dad is ready to begin teaching on what it means to be an Independent Baptist.  It is his desire to show the people, from the Scriptures, how a New Testament church should function and why.  Please pray for the Lord to do a mighty work among the people.  God is good and God is able.  Pray for tender and willing hearts.

Thank you, everyone, for praying; and thank You, God, for answering prayer.  “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.”  II Thessalonians 3:1-3

Blessings and Petitions

10/12/2010

Good day to all our praying friends.  God has been good to us, and we thank Him for His blessings upon our lives.

While Dad and Mom were shopping in the town of Goroka at the end of September, God gave them a couple of special blessings.  While in town they met a man from the Netherlands named Andreas who was fairly certain that he could fix their generator.  He was to fly into Owena with Dad and Mom last Thursday.  Since their flight was early in the morning, they were praying that Andreas would be able to fix the generator the same day.  Not only does the generator help with the ministry and with the printing of lessons and Scriptures and so forth, but it also helps run the refrigerator and allows them to use the washing machine to wash their clothes.  Mom commented that the washing machine gets the clothes much cleaner than hand washing them.  We look forward to Dad and Mom’s report about this situation when they call on Saturday.

The second blessing is regarding their water tank.  Dad and Mom purchased a water tank which was to be brought into Owena by helicopter, slung underneath and set in a place specifically prepared for it.  However, they found out that the kind of tank they bought was not the kind that could be brought in that way on the helicopter.  They would either have to wait for another company with a bigger helicopter to be in the area (not very common) or sell it.  Well, a few days ago Dad got a call from someone who wanted to buy it.  Praise the Lord!

            Prayer Requests

Thank you to all who have been praying.  Please don’t stop.  Please keep praying for the people of Owena that God would work in their hearts and change them and build a work and a church there for His glory.  Dad is planning to teach on what an Independent Baptist church is and what makes it Independent Baptist.

Also, please be in prayer in regard to Dad’s health.  While he was in Goroka, he went to see a New Tribes Mission about some red spots that had come up on his arms and legs.  The doctor was not that concerned about the spots on his arms.  He said they looked like some kind of allergic reaction to something he had touched.

The spots on his leg were different.  The doctor set up another appointment for Dad when he goes back out to town (around November 18th).  He said the spots could be some kind of T-cell lymphoma.  You can find out more information about T-cell lymphoma by visiting this web site - http://www.healthscout.com/ency/68/25/main.html  .

I (Connie) am doing OK.  For the past three or four weeks, I have been experiencing some real challenges physically.  Some supplements have been helping with my overall energy and stamina.  Also the Vitamin D and Vitamin K have helped quite a bit in some other areas as well, particularly with my digestive system.

On the other hand, I have been dealing with some respiratory problems.  These could be related to the Vit. D intake as supplemental Vit. D3 is made from the fat of irradiated lamb’s wool (lanolin).  Have also had 2 bouts of severe joint pains and (the second time) severe headaches and muscle pains along with the pain and stiffness in my neck.  It has been a challenge to go shopping and do some important computer work during these times, but the Lord has given much grace and help.

Most of my tests have come back normal, but I do have an appointment with a rheumatologist on October 26th, so please pray that God will give the doctor wisdom and give an answer to what is going on.  I have prayed and also discussed things with Dad and Mom, and we all believe that if these visits to the rheumatologist do not reveal what is going on, then we will just wait and trust the Lord that His grace is sufficient in these struggles.  Please pray that He will teach me the best way to glory in my infirmities, that is to bring Him glory through them.  This does not come naturally for me.

Last Sunday evening the Lord gave us a beautiful rainbow on the way to church.  It was one of the most brilliant rainbows I’ve ever seen.  There are two pictures of this rainbow above.  One shows the rainbow as we saw it over the trees on the way to church.  I don’t have a really good camera so couldn’t capture it in its true beauty.  But thought I would share it nonetheless.  The second picture shows it in front of (or perhaps I should say behind) the car in front of us.  The rainbow was in front of us on the road, and it seemed like we followed it all the way to church.  In all, it lasted about one hour.

Thank you, everyone, for praying.  May God bless you all and keep you in His wonderful care.

Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.  Psalm 62:8
