It was nice not to have to rush this morning to get anything done. We saw the students out early (6:00) filling their saucepans with water to cook rice and Maggi noodles for today. Parents cooked pots of garden food.
After breakfast and quiet time this morning, there was plenty of time to do other things before the program started. Daddy cut up a pumpkin for me, and I got that cooked on the wood stove so it would be ready for dinner. We had a leftover rice dish to go with it. Worked a little bit on the PNG history/geography course too that I hope to have ready for the next school year.
The program was scheduled for 9:30, but we figured it would be 10:00 before people were all here and ready to start. Well, even the students weren’t here by 10:00. It was after 10:15 before we finally got started. After I welcomed the families and Tomas prayed, we started the drama. The drama was followed by a few words from the Word by Pastor Matthew. Then Dallas gave a short thank you speech to the fathers on behalf of all the students. After that the single students presented gifts to their fathers, and Mike to his wife. Then there was question and answer time, followed by giving of thanks for the food. They didn’t leave right away to eat, however. The fathers all sat and opened their gifts. Then they wanted a group picture taken with their children (students). Then the mothers wanted a group picture with their children. The students also gave out toy airplanes and lollies to their siblings.
There were a lot of extra people around during the program, sitting outside listening and watching through the window. Others managed to wander by when it was time to eat, but there was plenty of food to share.
It was 1:00 before we finally got to have dinner and after 2:30 before we got to have a nap. After nap, I did a little cleaning up, but there are still a lot of things to be put away somewhere until next year. Then I had to make tortillas for my supper.
After supper, I transferred pictures to the computer and got those all edited. Now Daddy is teaching Bible school, and I have water on heating for dishes.
“24Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Matthew 16:24-26
