December 7. It has been a warm and busy day. Daddy didn’t get up right away this morning because he had a reaction to a supplement he was taking and his heart started racing during the night. So I got up and got the fire started and gave out mobiles when their owners came to the door. Had breakfast and quiet time and got ready for lotu.
Mike had charge of lotu today and continued his series on love, speaking today from II Corinthians 5 about the love of Christ constraining us to preach the word in Christ’s stead. Daddy got up and had some breakfast and coffee while we were in lotu.
After lotu, the young men’s quartet practiced again. When they left, it was time for snack. Then I moved some boxes of school books around that I had reboxed yesterday. Sanded the desk extension and put a second coat of varnish on it. By then it was almost 11:00 so went to the kitchen to prepare uxai, carrots and onions for dinner.
Had planned to spend the morning writing e-mails, but those plans did not come to pass. I did have a little time before dinner to get journal notes into a file to send to Christy and Connie. When that was done, the veggies were done cooking, and the leftover rice and chicken was hot. While we were eating dinner, I got e-mails in so they wouldn’t be slowing down things going out later.
Phinehas and Wiru were here part of the morning and afternoon cutting firewood.
This afternoon, I cleaned off the whole desk, dusted everything, and washed off the desk top. We moved the Acer to the desk extension, along with a couple other little things, and put the radio on the desk where the Acer used to be. Then I swept the office floor. By then it was already 4:00. I wrote and sent e-mail with journal notes to Christy and Connie. Practiced a few songs on the keyboard. Made granola. Fixed supper. Ate. Did dishes. Had a few minutes to start writing in journal before choir practice. A lot of them came early this evening which was a blessing. We were able to get a lot more accomplished. The youth choir plans to sing four specials tomorrow so we practiced those. Then they wanted to start learning “Salim Lait” (“Send the Light”) so we went through each part twice and will practice that more next week. That will be one for them to sing for the New Year meetings.
Just had snack, and now it is time for bath.
“13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints…. “ Ephesians 6:13-18
December 8. After 8:30 p.m. Have spent over an hour printing, trying to get the books done for oral English. Did the picture pages on the Canon so there would be color. Tomorrow I’ll do the back sides on the laser.
Last night was very warm. We even had our bedroom window open all night. Daddy did not need to start a fire this morning.
The day started with pancakes and quiet time. Then I practiced the songs for today’s special song service before Daddy turned on the generator and I spent some time at the computer.
It has been a good day of fellowship with God’s people. Matthew covered verses 11-17 of II Corinthians 5 this morning. This afternoon, we observed the Lord’s supper together, followed by the special song and testimony service. There were quite a few specials today, and Philemon gave an encouraging testimony telling how the Lord’s hand has been upon his life through the years to bring him to Christ and to work out His will in Philemon’s life. Toward the end of the song service, the rain started coming down quite hard. The skies got very dark, and there was thunder and lightning. It got pretty dark in the meeting room, and I was having trouble seeing the notes to play the songs I was playing for the school choir. People stayed around for a while afterward until the rain slowed down.
I had a snack and started some work on spelling lessons until time to fix supper. Daddy was quite tired, so he took a nap. I had taken mine earlier. When he got up, he put water on to heat for shaving and washing up; and I started making supper. We have plenty of leftover veggies, but I needed to make a main dish. Spaghetti was on the menu for this evening. I didn’t wash dishes this evening as Sunny and Bonita are going to start coming each day for a while to do dishes and whatever other jobs I need done. I have been so swamped with all the choir practice and computer work that needs to be done.
“9And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; 10That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; 11Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:9-11
