December 1. The Lord gave us another lovely day today. Very warm again.
Randy called Daddy this morning and said the mechanic said he would “get right on it” - the car. So we waited and waited and waited. No mechanic. After lunch, Daddy gave the mechanic a call. “I was coming, but other things came up,” he replied. “will be there around 1:30.” 1:30 came and went. So did 2:30 and 3:30. Finally around 4:00, he arrived on the scene. He checked out the vehicle and said the starter is bad. He will come get the car first thing tomorrow morning and put another starter in it.
So we didn’t go anywhere today. Worked on the song book - I think I finally have it ready to print. Will need to do two song books (but just one for now) because there are too many songs for one. It would be too thick to staple and fold.
This afternoon, after nap, I did dishes, washed my hair, and fixed rice for supper with ground beef gravy. No veggies today. We finished up the veggies yesterday. We had apple instead.
“14Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” Mark 1:14,15
December 2. Did not sleep well last night. It was so warm, and I could not get comfortable with my feet swollen and my back hurting. I remember last year at this time, when we were in town, I had a lot of trouble with my feet swelling.
This morning, the mechanic was supposed to come around 9:00 and get the car or the starter and take it to be fixed. Once again we waited and waited and waited. Finally around 10:45, Daddy called him to see what was up. He had locked the key in the vehicle he would be driving out here and hadn’t been able to get the vehicle open yet. Finally around 11:15, he did show up here and removed the starter from the car. We had no idea how long it would take him to fix it or when we might be able to use the car.
After that, we took a walk up to Papindo West to get a few things we needed for the rest of the day. There were no veggies there though so we still had just rice with beef gravy and apple pieces to go with it.
During the time we were having our nap, the mechanic came back. We didn’t hear him so we don’t know what time he had come. When Daddy got up, he looked out the window and saw him out there working. After the man got the car back together, it worked great. About 3:15, we went uptown and did a little shopping. We still have a LOT to do before we go back to the bush next Tuesday (?).
Sunny came around to see us this morning. Said she had tried to find us uptown yesterday. She plans to come back tomorrow to see if the car has been fixed so she can go to some of the stores with us. She is staying with Maura until school is out. Maura’s school doesn’t finished until next Tuesday, and they will head back to Owena on Wednesday.
Most of my computer time today was spent working on the PNG history and geography course.
“17And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. 18And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.” Mark 1:17,18
