Hello! I am a little late in updating, but here are some excerpts from Mom's September journal notes.
September 3. Praise the Lord for another lovely day.
We were surprised but pleased that Eron came this morning and said he wanted to go work on the house. So Daddy sent tools up with him to work on the floor in Connie’s room, and I got some peanuts ready to send with him to eat. Gave him the other two peanut cookies. He worked until after 5:30. I gave him the rest of the rice and fish from yesterday so he could take it home for his supper. But he wanted to eat it here so I heated it up for him, and he sat and ate and talked. Micah was with him. Found out that Eron’s tokples name is Kiomo. He is Wan’s half brother. So that’s why Micah was with him, because Micah’s mother (Severah) is his half sister.
This morning, after quiet time, I did a little cleaning and organizing in the bedroom. Then I started going over Luke 14. Bonita and Yunis came to carry water.
I was going to start preparing something for dinner when I finished the chapter in Luke. However, I wasn’t quite done when Neomi came. It was nice to visit with her for a while. She hadn’t been around in a long time. Showed her the slide show of our family pictures that I just finished getting together a couple days ago. She enjoyed that. Especially enjoyed seeing pictures of Christy.
It was 11:00 when she left. I put some rice on to cook. Then I worked on cutting up a pumpkin. Put part of that on to cook and part of it in the fridge for another day. Made a white sauce with onions and tuna to go on the rice.
After nap, I finished checking Luke 14. Then we tried to send e-mails, but couldn’t get a connection. So Daddy went up to the house site to see how Eron was doing, and I wrote a toksave (announcement) for tomorrow, and wrote down prayer requests from e-mails. Then I started on a little Bible study until supper time.
This evening, we worked again on sending and receiving e-mails. We had to reconnect a few times to get them all in. It was having trouble bringing in the big ones. All the e-mails finally came in, but then it wouldn’t send. So we disconnected for a while. Later, while I was having a bath, Daddy was finally able to get our e-mails sent.
“10And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Revelation 12:10,11
September 4. It was a hot day, and quite humid most of the day. Very warm in David’s house during the church meetings today too. My joints were telling me that rain was coming. This afternoon, however, the humidity had gone down, and the skies were so blue and pretty. It was so enjoyable to look out the window at the sky and mountains while I was doing dishes and reflect on God’s blessings.
At the same time it was a good day, a day of blessings, a joy to meet together with God’s people and hear the preaching of the Word. Almost everybody came early, and we were able to get an early start. Even then, the first meeting was quite long. But it didn’t matter. We don’t get to meet together often enough.
Matyu was supposed to lead songs today, but he didn’t know because he just came back from town this past week. He wasn’t here last Sunday when Daddy gave out the schedule. Since he was late this morning, David took charge of the singing.
After that, Eric read Matthew 1:1-17 in Pidgin, and translated it into Owena as he read. The reading of the Scripture was followed by a time of special prayer and thanksgiving for answered prayer.
Then Daddy gave a brief toksave again about following the Biblical pattern for building a church, and invited others to join the church. A hand went up at the back, and a young man expressed his desire to join the church. We didn’t know who it was at first so Daddy asked Tomas. It was Maik. Praise the Lord! We were so happy to see him in church. The church was happy to receive him as a member as soon as he is baptized. After church, Daddy talked to him, and he will either come see us, or have David come and talk to him. Paqi (his mother) seemed happy to be there today too. We just need to pray now that his dad will start coming to church. Don’t know if his wife was there or not, but hopefully she will start coming.
After that, Daddy preached on Romans 10:5-8, and Tomas translated. Talked about two kinds of righteousness — the righteousness of the law, and the righteousness of faith.
Matyu took care of the singing in the second meeting as was scheduled. Daddy preached on the work of the deacon. Quite a few stayed for the second meeting today, whereas a good many of them usually go home.
It was well after 2:00 when we got home. Warmed up the leftover soup, adding a can of minted peas and a can of carrots to make it enough.
After a nice nap, I put some notes in the computer from today’s meetings and finished up the Sóni photo book I had started a few days ago.
“2And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. 3And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. 4Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.” Revelation 15:2-4
