There were about 30 here for ladies’ meeting last night, mostly from the immediate area. We wonder if some of them didn’t hear the bell. Whoever rang the bell, didn’t ring it very loudly. It was 7:25 before the first ones came — Mata and girls. At 7:30, there were a dozen or so, and we started singing. I had Mata take charge of the singing. More ladies came while we were singing. Sang until 7:45, then taught them a new chorus, “Bilip Tasol” (only believe). After that, I went into the Bible lesson, “Givim na Tekewe Laip,” (Giving and Taking Away Life) part 2, covering pasin pamuk (prostitution or unfaithfulness in marriage), and the root reason for sin — unbelief. After that, I had Tema take prayer requests and pray. By then it had started raining. There was .45” rain by this morning.
After the ladies left, I had a snack and washed up. Then crocheted a while and read Bible before bed. Finished the first half of the pink and blue blanket. Trying to think of what name to give it — ”sky blue pink,” maybe.??
Praise the Lord for a lovely morning! After lotu, Jevin started the generator, and I washed the clothes. It was nice to get out in the sunshine and hang them out.
After that, I started drawing the happy picture on Connie’s desk. Worked on that until 10:30. Then started dinner. Had to peel and cut up potatoes and pumpkin for soup, as well as get all the seasonings into it, including dicing an onion and grating ginger root.
Worked more on the happy picture after nap and got it all drawn. Ready to start painting whenever I get a chance. This coming week, I need to concentrate on ministry update and letters in preparation for going to town. After finishing the drawing, I cut up the rest of yesterday’s popo for snack. Then cleaned the bathroom and swept and washed the bathroom and office floors. It had been a good while since the office was done and it really needed it.
Had about a half hour left to relax and play keyboard before getting supper. Just finished up supper dishes, and am thankful for time to relax again.
The men came after lotu this morning and worked on the outer east wall. Got that finished and up this afternoon, but didn’t get it all nailed on before they rain came. They can finish it on Monday. They will need more bamboo for the south wall and for the floor.
Matin (Nikson) chopped firewood again this morning. Then cut the grass along the fire line.
January 10.
Only worked at the computer a short time last evening. Then crocheted a bit and read Bible. Could hardly make my hands move the crochet hook, and my eyes kept wanting to close too. So finally went to bed around 9:00. Was still tired after I got up this morning. 3/4” rain over night.
Fixed our Sunday pancake breakfast. Had prayer time and went through Romans chapter 9, seeing what changes could be made in sentence structure. The rest of the morning, until lotu time, I worked on painting the happy picture. Got the sky all painted, and part of a second coat on the sky, as the grid lines showed through. Finished the second coat this afternoon, and painted the grass.
Praise the Lord for a mostly sunny morning and afternoon so the solar battery and solar lights could get charged.
Daddy preached first lotu today. Daddy preached on the last 7 verses of second John this morning. About a dozen people responded to the invitation, mostly young people. Lotu was late getting out so we had a quick dinner. Maita came in with the twins about the time we finished eating. Wanted a picture taken.
Then it was time to go back to lotu. Nuanda preached on the story of Eutychus, applying it to many of God’s people falling asleep spiritually and some of them ready to fall down and die.
After second lotu, Ayando and Joselin came with Sipora’s baby. They wanted pictures taken. After they left, we went for nap. It was 3:00 already. Didn’t get up from nap until after 4:00. Worked on the happy picture until 5:00, then got supper.
After supper, it started getting dark outside. I did the dishes, then sat down to play keyboard. Shortly we heard the sound of rain. The rain got louder and louder and harder and harder. I think it is the hardest rain we have had since we’ve been here. Water leaked in all the rooms, except our bedroom. We wondered if Daddy was going to get to start the generator or not.
Daddy finally went out about 7:30 and started the generator. There was already over 2 inches of rain in the rain gauge.
"In my flesh shall I see God." Job 19:26 What a day that will be!
