September 4. The Lord gave us a nice sunny day again, but it was also quite cool again.
Amos wasn’t here for lotu this morning as he went yesterday with the youth to carry coffee. So David looked after the singing and the prayer time, and Daddy did a little Bible study on the life of Christ in the book of Mark with examples we can follow in our Christian lives. Even with so many gone, there were about a dozen here, counting us.
After lotu, we did a couple loads of laundry. Then I will do laundry again on Saturday as I still have bedding and towels to do from when our visitors were here. While clothes were washing, I cleaned the bathroom as I hadn’t had time to do that on Saturday. The sun felt good when we were hanging out clothes, but it wasn’t long before the cool winds came up.
The rest of the morning was spent working on August progress report. It was quite a bit longer than the past couple months and took a couple hours to complete. Then it was time to get dinner.
After nap, I got things ready for school tomorrow. Don’t know if the kids’ll be back or not. People didn’t see any fires until this evening, so they probably won’t arrive back here before tomorrow. So things are ready anyway for whenever they get here.
Put the finishing touches on the progress report. Then while Daddy was proofreading it, I got the used sheets and towels out of the guest bedroom and covered the bed with another sheet and blanket. Started writing an e-mail before making myself some biscuits and getting supper. It took a while to get dishes done this evening as there were lots of drinking vessels and storage containers.
After that I finished up the e-mail. Then had my soda drink, a bath, and my snack before sending the e-mails and now writing in the journal.
Phinehas came this evening to practice music. He did not go with the other young people to carry coffee because of his health. It has been a long time since he and Dallas have practiced music or had keyboard class because of our not having the generator power.
“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” I Corinthians 1:18
September 5. It has been a very cool day. The temperature outside got up to about 72º for about an hour -- during the middle of the day and then started going back down again. We have tried to keep warm by keeping the wood stove going, but even then I have had a light jacket or extra warm shirt on most of the day.
Since the students weren’t back yet from their trip to Okapa, I worked on some other projects today. Folded yesterday’s laundry and got it put away. That didn’t take long as Daddy had already folded most of the little things. So I just had the bedding, towels, and a few other items to do.
Cleaned out the e-mail inbox. Then I wrote an e-mail to Christy and Connie and along with that I sent them some photos. It must have been a good day for sending and receiving e-mails, as I had 4 picture e-mails to go out, and there was almost 1.2 MB coming in, and everything was done in record time.
Put a little pillow in the heart-shaped pillow cover. Took all the lambs off their shelf and dusted them, as well as the shelf, and the pictures hanging on the wall above the shelf. Reorganized all the lambs back on the shelf and finished dusting other things in the bedroom. Swept away the spider webs that had been built under the lamb shelf. There must have been a hundred tiny black eggs in them so I was glad to get rid of those.
Then Daddy cut up part of the big pumpkin for me so I could peel it and cut it up into smaller pieces to cook for our dinner. Made hamburgers to accompany the pumpkin.
Daddy went up on the roof to see if he could see why so much water keeps leaking down the wood stove chimney when it rains. Wan kept patching up there with the hydroseal, and Daniel did it once. Daddy didn’t have any trouble finding the problem. The sleeve that goes around the stove pipe to help keep the rain out was not sitting down on the roof so water was easily getting underneath it. Daddy got that tightened down and patched up with hydroseal so hopefully that will take care of the problem.
After nap, I cut up a nice popo and we had some for snack. Then I worked on cleaning out my sewing repair box. Fixed up a little baby dress that was in there, and a slip that I am needing. Tacked down a loose pocket on Daddy’s long-sleeved blue shirt.
After supper and dishes, I practiced keyboard for about 40 minutes until time for Bible school.
“For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” I Corinthians 1:21
