July 19. 9:15 p.m. already. It has been a very cold day. It feels warmer this evening than it has all day. When we got up this morning, it was no longer raining. (I don’t think it rained any more during the night either.) But it was really cold - 54º. And it was a damp cold that seemed to go into the bones. Although it didn’t rain today, we never did get any sunshine. But we were thankful that it didn’t rain as we hung the clothes outside first thing this morning.
Tomas taught lotu this morning since Mike has a bad cold. Tomas talked about seven things that must be true in our lives in order for us to know God’s will. He also gave a good testimony about how the Lord helped him yesterday when the weather was so bad even though they had prayed for a good day for the bride-buying party. He said that God helped him to accept the fact that it was God’s will to send rain.
Even though I had a heavy sweater and a jacket on this morning, the cold had gone through to the bones. I just could not get warm, even with the wood stove going. I figured the only way to get warm would be to get into bed and cover up with all the covers. Before lotu even ended, I got up and went to bed. I was cold all over. And while I was there, I had a little extra sleep. I think I understand why bears sleep in the winter. :-) Must have slept about an hour.
When I got up, I got the rest of the update e-mails ready to send out. Then Daddy and I went outside for a little stretch and exercise. It was a little bit warmer outside than in. Peninnah had come to weed the flower garden and plant new flower seeds.
After coming back in, I got journal notes ready to send to Christy and Connie. Put a pot of water on the wood stove to heat for spaghetti and started on C&C’s e-mail.
After dinner, Daddy went out and got the clothes in while I cleaned up the kitchen. He also shooed away the rooster that was under the house crowing. We didn’t want him there during our nap time again today. Enjoyed another long nap this afternoon.
By afternoon, the wood stove had warmed the house up enough so that I could wash my hair. Then I finished C&C’s e-mail, got a snack, and then sat down to work on lesson plans. Spent the rest of the afternoon and part of the evening getting lesson plans written for this coming week. After finishing the lesson plans, I cleaned the bathroom. We also had an early bath before the bathroom got too cool. Then I did the dishes and had a snack. Finished up the lesson plans and then printed out the new soul-winning lessons which Daddy will probably need tomorrow evening. That’s why I was late getting these journal notes written.
July 20. It started out to be another very chilly, cloudy day. We had the wood stove going all morning. Then the Lord sent us blue sky and sunshine this afternoon, and the air warmed up and felt so good. Thank you, Lord, for being so gracious.
After breakfast and quiet time, I got the new memory verses ready to be printed this evening and made up a Bible test to go with the next Bible lesson.
A handful of people were here at 10:00 or a little after this morning, including David, so David started the meeting with songs.
This afternoon, I revised the next few verses in John chapter 4 and started writing the next Bible lesson for school. And this evening, I finished the plans for the musical drama for the end of school before doing some printing and scanning. Took a break and did dishes, and now am back to writing in my journal.
“4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:4-7
