August 20. Sunny and dry most of the day. The sun felt very hot when I went outside this afternoon, and this evening it is raining.
Spent about a half hour doing more cleaning in the guest room before school this morning. Need to finish getting everything organized before this weekend so I can have the girls clean in there.
Everyone was ready to say the new Bible verse this morning. I gave them each a coffee candy.
The students seemed to enjoy their social studies class today. We reviewed the difference between continents, countries, and provinces and states, and also reviewed North and South America and the three largest countries in each. I let them take turns showing where the continents and countries are on a couple wall maps, on blank maps, and on the globe. Then we read the new lesson which taught the other five continents and showed all the continents in order of size. We spent some time learning the order and finding each of those on maps also. I told them about our visitors, who will be coming next week, being from South Africa. They are excited about having visitors come.
We finished classes around 12:00. I asked Sunny to stay and prepare the greens that Desi had brought yesterday. Then I warmed up leftover spaghetti and carrots and broccoli for our dinner.
I didn’t want to sleep as long at nap time as I did yesterday because I had lots to do this afternoon. But I ended up zonking out anyway, and slept about 1 1/2 hours. I think taking the ParaGone makes me sleep more, and also have been taking Ibuprofen for bad pain in my shoulder.
I did want to get out in the sunshine a little while so did that right away after I got up. Then I graded the students’ math books, cut up part of a popo and a small pineapple for our snack and had snack. I did not eat pineapple, but had popo and banana. The pineapple is for Daddy. Started grading the math worksheets while I was eating snack. After that, I washed my hair and then started getting things ready for Steve’s birthday party tomorrow. Had to find a party bag while it was still light and put a few little things in that for Steve’s gift. Then I made cupcakes and got out the cups, drink mix, and other things for the party.
Then it was time to fix supper. We just had tomato sandwiches again. They tasted good with the nice fresh tomatoes from the Goroka market.
Then it was time to clean up the kitchen and do dishes.

August 21. It is after 7:30 p.m. We have had a busy day. The Lord gave us a mixture of clouds and sun today. Daddy started the fire again this afternoon because it was very cool and cloudy, and it was raining. Then the sun came out again for a while. But we are thankful for the fire in the wood stove so I can be warm for my bath tonight. Also I had extra hot water for dishes which I needed because Janeth came just as I had gotten the water all ready to do dishes. She wanted some yarn to make a new bilum for the coming baby - due next month. And we spent quite a bit of time talking too. So I had to add more hot water to my dish water after she left.
Before having my breakfast this morning, I had to make icing for the cupcakes and get those frosted. Then I put a lolly in each cupcake and three Rokroks with each one. Made the drink and everything was ready. Then I had my breakfast.
After my breakfast and quiet time, still nobody was here for lotu so I did more work in the guest room until people came. Since it was so foggy and dreary this morning, people were later than usual for lotu. It was about ten to eight before Amos even started lotu. We only sang one song. He covered Acts 1:9-11.
At the end of school today, the students all enjoyed celebrating Steve’s birthday with him. Daddy and I had our dinner while they were having their cake and cookies and peanuts. While our dinner was heating, I finished grading their math books.
I slept a long time again at nap time today. I think I just have three more days’ worth of ParaGone and maybe I won’t feel like sleeping so much after that. I was hoping to go out for a stretch in the sunshine after nap, but the sunshine had pretty much disappeared by then. I cut up some popo for our snack, and graded the students’ English exercises while I was eating snack. Then I had to do some photocopying and printing. While the computer was on, I also got the words to the new song put into the music. Then it was time to get biscuits made for my supper as the others were all gone.
Daddy got a text message from Brad late this afternoon saying that there was an e-mail for Daddy from him about the generator. It looks like he may be able to pick up the generator Friday from SIL and take it to Goroka. Then it can come in here when his parents come. We pray that it will work well enough for us to use for a while longer until we can get something else.
After dishes were done this evening, I still had the rest of the grades to record and things to get ready for school tomorrow. I am thankful to have all that done now and to be able to sit down and relax a while.
