July 28. Can you guess what the weather was like today? Cold, foggy, rainy! Almost all day long! The sun peeked through a couple times for just a few minutes.
I was happy to see Sunny back in school today. She said that she is well now. Graham was back too, but he still wasn’t feeling well, but I was happy to see him here anyway.
It was late when we finished afternoon class and went for our nap. I was tired since I’m still not feeling well so slept a good while (We were awaked once by a rooster crowing under the house). Therefore there wasn’t time to do much in the afternoon. Only had spelling lessons to correct, however, and then recorded other grades and wrote a few things on the chalkboard for tomorrow. Daddy cut up the rest of the pumpkin for me and I peeled it and cut it up in small pieces to cook later. Also got a pot of water ready to start heating for spaghetti. Then I made corrections in the new Bible school lesson while supper was cooking.
“ In whom (Christ) are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Colossians 2:3
July 29. No rain today. It was still pretty chilly, but the Lord gave us some sunshine, and we praise Him for His graciousness.
Daddy has been really tired today as he is sick with a bad cold. This is the first cold he has had in quite a while (since January). I am still not feeling well with whatever, and Graham said he still is not feeling well either.
The students are improving in their comprehension of working with fractions. Even though it is slow, I am happy to see some progress.
After school, Daddy spent some time with the students helping them decide what they should order from town this time for their sales. Dallas and Sosthenes counted the money first. Then the boys wanted to know if they could go to town next week and help Daddy get the supplies. So we worked out a plan for them to do that, then have their final week of second term after they get back, but start right into third term the following week.
This afternoon, after getting the math lessons graded and other grades recorded, I cut Lew’s hair. It hadn’t been done for at least six weeks and was getting a bit too long. For supper, we had the rest of the popo crisp I made the other day, with some whipped cream on top. After supper, I had to make some changes in the math books for the lessons tomorrow and put a few things on the chalkboard.
“1If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3
July 30. The Lord gave us a lovely, sunshiny day all day today. It was a bit warmer than it has been, although cool strong winds came up in the afternoon.
In lotu this morning, Amos preached on Acts 8:20-25 and finished the story of Simon the sorcerer. School started early so we were able to get caught up on some phonics and reading.
Both Daddy and I were pretty tired today. I am thankful, however, that I am starting to feel a little better - less nauseated and headache not so strong. Daddy did take a little walk across the airstrip this morning, and I walked around the yard for about five minutes this afternoon.
“Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.” Colossians 4:5
