February 15. We both overslept this morning. I was off in dreamland when I suddenly woke up and saw that the room was bright. Glanced at the clock. 6:19? Yes. Past time to get up ‘n’ at ‘em.
Since we were short on eggs today, Daddy only had pancakes. He usually has one pancake with eggs and ketchup. Today he had one pancake with just ketchup. [Mom says] Yuk! :-) As usual, he had syrup on his second pancake and peanut butter and honey on the third. I had my pancakes with bananas and fruit syrup. [Mom says] Yum! :-)
After breakfast and quiet time, I marked grades on the papers Sunny and Graham had checked over last night and then recorded the grades. Then I worked on the marriage lessons until time for lotu.
Matthew did a good job this morning, teaching on Galatians 5:1-12. It was a difficult passage, but he handled it well. David preached in the second meeting on “Only One Road”, showing through God’s provision for Adam and Eve’s salvation and his promise to send a Saviour, how there is only one way of salvation, by grace through faith.
This afternoon, I got the rest of the updates ready to send, and Lew and I worked on the shopping list. This evening, there was some printing to do - shopping list, a song book for Nahsa, computer lessons for Graham and Sunny.
“29And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. 30For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. 31But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Luke 12:29-31
February 16. Since I had a longer nap yesterday afternoon than planned, I stayed up a little later in the evening and worked on the lessons for Bible class for school. The students have asked for lessons on a Biblical marriage. I think I have enough material now to start teaching and can work on finishing the lessons in the days to come.
It was just a little before 11:00 when I went to bed. Daddy was already asleep. Not long after I lay down, the rain started. My what a rain! At 2:00 a.m., it was still raining very hard. The strange thing was that the roof didn’t leak anywhere. Even if we just get a light rain, the roof leaks, and it REALLY leaks (usually) when we get a heavy rain. We are happy that it did not leak.
It was still dark when we got up this morning a little before 6:00. But soon the sun came out, and there was blue sky. How gracious of the Lord to wash the clouds away and give us a beautiful sunny morning. It even got quite warm today so we were able to let the fire go out.
We practiced two songs in Bible class today since we didn’t have to work on checking translation. We don’t want to start checking the next verse until they get the last one down well. It is a bit longer than the first two verses. They are working on learning the English well for “Ye Must Be Born Again,” and they wanted to start learning “Until Then” for their next special song.
They finished a reading lesson and also did a phonics lesson in phonics class. They also did the whole of lesson 95 in math today. So Sunny and Graham are busy now correcting all the lessons. They did a whole lesson in history today too, but there were only a few matching questions at the end, and it took me almost no time to grade them. Everyone got 100%.
This afternoon, after looking over tomorrow’s lessons and writing some problems on the chalkboard, I got down to business writing the quarterly newsletter. Just about finished that his evening so should have it ready to go to Christy and Connie in another day or two.
Daddy has been keeping busy these days working on the translation of Isaiah. It is a very difficult book, and he is finding that many words in Isaiah are only used in Isaiah. Choosing the correct words for translation needs much prayer and thought.
“32Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 33Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. 34For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Luke 12:32-34
