Today seemed more like Saturday than Monday since there was no school -- also because we did laundry this morning, and we had been used to doing that on Saturdays. Praise the Lord for a lovely day for hanging out clothes to dry.
After doing laundry, Daddy and I took upon ourselves the project of sweeping and washing the kitchen and office floors and patching up part of the kitchen floor with an older piece of floor mat (linoleum) that was still in good condition. The new floor mat we bought and put down after we moved up here did not last long at all. It is full of holes patched up with duct tape.
Working on the floor was a tiring job for two old people. It took a good part of our morning and afternoon. I rested in the recliner and crocheted for a while after hanging clothes because my whole body was hurting for some reason. Took some ibuprofen, and waited for that to start working before we started on the floor. Also took a break later and made ID cards for Matthew. Tried to make them color, but the magenta ink is not printing for some reason, and his picture looked pretty horrible blue and yellow. We’ll have to do some trouble shooting to see if we can find out why the magenta ink is not getting through.
This afternoon, I wrote a couple e-mails; and this evening, I worked on the quarterly newsletter.
“21Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 22Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” Matthew 18:21,22
Mom’s Happy Birthday Poem
Three Score and Ten
When the years of our lives reach three score and ten,
It’s another good time to count blessings again –
One for each year, though innumerable more
Can surely be found in my memory’s store.
The source of each blessing is the great Three-in-One,
The Almighty Creator – Father, Spirit, and Son.
God the Father in heaven my sin did erase
Because of His mercy, His love, and His grace.
God the Son, Christ my Saviour, His life-blood He gave,
Died in shame upon Calv’ry, then arose from the grave
To redeem this poor sinner, justify and make whole -
There is no condemnation, peace and joy fill my soul.
God the Spirit, my Comforter, teaches and guides me,
He dwells in my heart, and He often reminds me
That I am God’s child, and I need never fear,
For He never will leave me, His witness is clear.
Then God’s Holy Scriptures are my daily meat,
They’re a light to my path and a lamp to my feet,
Impart wisdom and truth, daily bringing delight,
They give strength, understanding, and songs in the night.
There’s the honor of serving my wonderful Lord,
And the hope of receiving eternal reward,
There’s the privilege of prayer and God’s promise to hear,
And hundreds more promises show God is near.
And then there are people; oh, how could I tell
Of the hundreds and thousands whom I love so well.
Folks who are willing to give, pray, and write us,
Pastors and counsellors with wisdom to guide us;
Godly parents, grandparents, great-grandparents too,
All now in heaven where I’ll join them soon,
One brother, four sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins,
School mates, acquaintances, friends by the dozens;
Dear husband and best friend, two daughters so precious,
Truly our Lord doth abundantly bless us;
Twelve special school students, their to’o* am I
(And the seventy mark I think I’ve gone by).
Thank you, oh, thank you, dear Father above,
For all of your wonderful tokens of love.
