December 21. A very hot, humid, sweaty day. No rain until evening.
Mike continued his teaching on love in lotu this morning, using several verses in Galatians chapter 5. After lotu, there was laundry to do. It was already quite hot out by the time we hung out the clothes.
Sunny and Bonita did dishes, prepared onions and greens, and cleaned out the ditch in back of the house. The water wasn’t running off, and stagnant water was building up on one end.
The men worked on the roof of the addition again. They did get the roof on today; however, they only nailed at the joins. It was much too hot up there, and their feet got too hot on the metal roof.
I finally got the cross stitch framed that the girls had sent quite a while back. Hung it up in the bedroom above our picture. Took a couple pictures of it to send to our daughters (see photos above). Then started getting the pieces of wood ready for the last bookshelf frame, but I needed to take apart the old bookshelf first because I needed the two pieces of plywood. Then Daddy came along, and he offered to take apart the old bookshelf. So I came to the computer and got an e-mail written for Christy and Connie, plus several photo e-mails to send them. Then tried sending them, but we always seem to have problems sending e-mails off to them with attachments. We did get several e-mails in.
Did not get much of a nap today - it was just TOO hot. Finally got up and washed my hair. Then I decided I would try sending the e-mails to just Christy instead of both of them. Then Christy could forward them over to Connie. Didn’t know if that would have anything to do with it, or not, but thought I would try. Anyway, I was thankful that the e-mails went out this time. Also worked on the little song book of songs, choruses, and Bible verses the students have learned in school. There are a few new little choruses in it too.
After supper, I practiced music a little while so I would be ready for choir practice. Then I worked more on the song book until there were enough people here to start practice. It was 7:30 before we got started so that doesn’t give us much time to learn new songs. We spent quite a bit of time on “The God of the Impossible,” especially on the bass and tenor parts. The tenor voices seem to have a hard time remembering their parts. The bass section seems to grasp their parts quite well, and they really sound nice when we put it all together.
“11Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. 12I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.” Philippians 4:11,12
December 22. Last night after choir practice, I had snack, and we had bath. Then I worked more on the song book until bedtime. It had rained a little bit in the evening; but shortly after we went to bed, the Lord sent a big storm - thunder, lightning, and heavy rain. Daddy said he never even heard it. He must have gone right off to sleep.
The Lord gave us a pretty nice day today with just a little rain. Now (about 8:15) it has started raining more.
It was really warm last night, and still warm this morning. Daddy did not make a fire. After our pancake breakfast and quiet time, I heated water and did dishes. Then I worked until church time on the table of contents for the little song book I’ve been making. Finished that up this afternoon and found a picture to put on the cover.
Matthew preached this morning on 2 Corinthians 6:1,2. And this afternoon, David preached on the Holy Spirit’s work in creation, in our lives, and in the world.
We had egg salad sandwiches for lunch, and I was able to get a little nap before going to afternoon lotu.
Made a little pizza for supper. After supper, I started on a job chart for this coming school year. Got that mostly done before I got into the computer. Had to print out an extra lesson for soul-winning class. They were one short. Then I printed a copy of the little song book and checked to see if I needed to make any corrections - just a handful.
