May 17. The Lord sent us a mixture of rain and sun today. It has been raining off and on throughout the day and is raining this evening. It is quite chilly this evening too.
We didn’t get very far in our music lesson in Bible class today, but I wanted time for them to sing and finish learning the song “Husat Man I Laik” (“Whosoever Will”). So we’ll try to finish the music lesson on Monday.
We are trying to learn about nouns now in English class, but the students are having a little bit of a hard time. I guess they will get it after a while.
Phinehas and Dallas came for their music lesson around 3:00, just like they said they would. They both did really well on their two choruses so will plan for them to have their recital in school this coming week. I gave them some extra pieces to work on this coming week too.
After they left, I had corn to husk for supper. Mora brought us corn again. This is the second time he has brought corn, and he brings really nice soft corn. Even Daddy enjoys eating it. Also husked uxai and cut it up with some carrots and onions for supper. Along with the veggies we had leftover potatoes and chicken gravy.
“11This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:11,12
May 18. A very warm, humid day after a rainy night. No rain today; just humid.
The Lord sent us a pretty morning rainbow.
Amos took Tomas’s place in looking after lotu today. Tomas has been in Marivo working in his coffee garden. Amos got his notebooks mixed up and brought the wrong notebook so he gave a message he had given before, the one about Jesus being the grapevine and believers being the branches.
After lotu, there was plenty of laundry to do. I was thankful for Daddy’s help. While clothes were washing, I got clean sheets put on the bed. Then worked on lesson plans for school next week. After we got the clothes hung out, I was quite tired and had a little nap. Afterward, I finished up lesson plans. Didn’t have to fix anything for dinner today, just warm things up. Daddy got all of the clothes in which was a big help. I was thankful for a good nap this afternoon.
I am thankful for a couple popo that somebody brought this weekend too. I cut up one of them this afternoon. Cooked part of it to go on my pancakes this coming week. Went out for a little walk around the yard, but it was hard to breathe, the air was so close.
A little later, somebody came to say hello. It was Susi. She is married now to a man named Mike from Okapa. They have a little boy named Erik, about 9 months old.
Just before supper, I got orange coconut cookies made for Daddy.
“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13
