May 8. Another dry day, but a few more clouds, and higher humidity. It is very warm this evening. Going on 6:30, and we still have the back door open.
SIL was here a long time today, training new pilots, landing and taking off quite a few times. They have more training to do in the next week, and told the people they could take loads of coffee out and would even give the people a 40% discount if they had a load of goods brought in.
Was happy to get out for a few minutes in the sunshine this afternoon before finishing up today’s grading and getting lessons ready for tomorrow. While supper was cooking, I practiced keyboard so the students can sing tomorrow.
After supper, I went out and burned the trash while the dish water was heating.
“And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.” I John 3:22
May 9. It is already after 9:30 p.m. It has been quite a busy day.
Lots of stars last night and chillier this morning than it has been for several days. It took a while for the day to warm up, but when it did, it was very warm.
In Bible class this morning, we reviewed this week’s Bible verse and also I John 1:8-10 which they had learned last term. Then they started learning the tenor and bass for “Beneath the Banner of the Cross.” They learned the song last year, but only the soprano and alto.
In phonics class, I had them practice their writing again after they did the lesson in their reading workbook.
In math class, there was lots of drill, a speed drill, a math game (which they enjoyed very much), and a short written lesson.
Most of them did well on reciting their dialogues today.
Sounded like they were really enjoying their lunch and just being together at lunch time. We could hear lots of laughter in the other room while we were eating our lunch.
After lunch, there was a spelling quiz and English class. Then nap.
Daddy only got a short nap. Then the phone rang, and shortly the plane came. SIL did more pilot training today, but not for as long a time as yesterday.
Bethuel and Wilson cut firewood this afternoon.
The doors, both front and back, were very busy all afternoon. I tried to get next week’s lesson plans done in between all the busy-ness.
At 4:45, I went to the kitchen to make biscuits for my supper. After supper, I sorted the laundry, did dishes, washed the clothes, hung some clothes up to dry in the house, put clean sheets on the bed, got my snack, and finally got to sit down. After a little rest, I had a bath. It was quite a sweaty day. Just finished lesson plans a few mintues ago.
“4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.” I John 4:4-6
