December 24. Praise the Lord for no rain during the night or during the day today.
A sinus cold with sore throat and earaches hit me all of a sudden last night. Did not get much sleep. Have not felt very well today.
This morning after breakfast and quiet time, I sat in my chair in the office and worked on lesson plans for the first week of school. The girls came and did dishes. That’s all I had for them to do today. Then I marked the uprights for the bookcase, and Daddy drilled holes for attaching those to the three shelf frames. Practiced keyboard and had a cup of tea. Later in the morning, I helped Daddy attach the uprights to the shelf frames. Then we attached the whole unit to the wall in the school room. We’ll need to put a couple supports under the two front corners. Then we can measure and cut the plywood to nail on for the shelves. Also want to make a drop-down door.
Matthew started early splitting bamboo. Amos joined him a little later, and a number of others joined in throughout the day. They got the coffee plastic and the other bamboo wall put on the east side today. They also got one wall made for the north end. So tomorrow they should be able to do the floor and put the walls on the north end.
This afternoon, I worked at the computer for a short while, but got too tired. Went to relax in the recliner in the bedroom, but it was too hot in there. Came back out here and put my chair in a cool place, but where there was no breeze blowing on my head. Finished up the first week’s lesson plans. Am thankful to have that done.
A little after 4:00, I put a pot of lentils and rice on to cook for supper. Made myself a cup of fenugreek tea - the end of the fenugreek. Haven’t seen any in town for ages. Peeled and cut up a couple onions to sauté later to go in the rice.
This evening, I did quite a bit of printing - pasteovers to correct a couple places in my little song book; little song books for the students; music lesson for myself and lessons for the students, lessons in study of John for students, notes from our special speaker for Lewis to translate, school schedules for students. I think that’s all. That was enough for this evening anyway. Then I got a snack and now am heating water for bath.
I did not feel well enough to teach choir this evening. However, people are here practicing by themselves.
“12Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son….” Colossians 1:12,13
December 25. A cool, cloudy, rainy day. In spite of that, the church folks came and worked. It took them a good part of the day to split the rest of the bamboo. Then they took the old wall down between the original section and the addition. They are using the old wall for the bottom layer of the floor so that will save them a lot of time and work. After they ate, they brought all the split bamboo inside so they could start weaving the floor this evening. Then they put the end wall up. This evening, instead of having Bible school, the men are working on the floor.
Got very little sleep last night - was so stuffed up, and the mozzies (mosquitoes) were so bad. I felt really wiped out today. Took two naps this morning and a two-hour nap this afternoon. Am feeling not quite so bad this evening.
It took just about all my energy this morning to move the drama stuff out of the guest room - some of it went into the storage closet and some into our bedroom. I also stapled the song books I had printed out last night and punched holes in the students’ Bible and music lesson papers.
Worked on the revision of the first chapter of John this afternoon. This evening, Daddy and a couple of the boys helped to cut a couple pieces of poles to support the front end of the bookcase.
