December 23. Thank you, Lord, for your bountiful goodness! I was so grateful for the verses and words of encouragement written out from Daddy today for our anniversary. I needed them.
Slept really well last night, praise the Lord! Seem to be feeling better today. Still a lot of stuff in chest though, with some raspiness and wheezing.
Woke up to a very warm morning, but a fogged in world.
Serah came to work at 7:30 this morning — did laundry and dishes and a couple other little things.
I had a hard time getting my heart into much of anything today. Did do a little work on the lotu song book. Have 101 songs now.
Epekio came by for a little while.
Got some more yarn for the baby afghan she is working on.
Made a pumpkin pie today for our anniversary supper. Washed hair this afternoon. Now it is raining, and has turned quite cool so hope it doesn’t make my cold worse.
Gloomy seasons of religious indifference and social sin are not exempted from the divine purpose. When the altars of truth are defiled, and the ways of God forsaken, the Lord's servants weep with bitter sorrow, but they may not despair, for the darkest eras are governed by the Lord, and shall come to their end at His bidding. What may seem defeat to us may be victory to Him.
"Though enwrapt in gloomy night,
We perceive no ray of light;
Since the Lord Himself is here,
'Tis not meet that we should fear." — Morning and Evening
December 24. Last night Daddy and I finished our game of dominoes that we had started Sunday evening. I felt sorry that I beat him at his game. It was relaxing to do something together and get our minds off other things.
Priase God for lovely weather today after the rainy day yesterday. It was chilly when we got up this morning, but quite warm this afternoon. I was thankful to be able to go outside a few minutes in the sunshine and fresh air. It was the first time I had been out all week. Thankful that my cold is starting to go down.
We ate the rest of our pumpkin pie for breakfast this morning. At 8:00, Daddy went off to Bible school. He didn’t know how many would be there, but just about everyone showed up. He had to come back and get more papers. Today was the last day of classes. Next Thursday, they will have their last exam. And the following week, they will go over the exam and talk about a second year course for those who truly desire to study and work and put their hearts into doing God’s will.
After Daddy left for class, I spent a half hour in prayer, in front of the wood stove in the kitchen. After that I sorted out photos until 9:00 when Serah came.
Daddy did not get back from Bible school until almost 11:00. I asked him if he would be my garbage man and mop rinser-outer. He kindly said yes.
Worked for a while on outlining Acts chapter 10 before getting dinner. Dinner was leftovers so it wasn’t too much work.
After nap this afternoon, I cut up the rest of the popo that I had cut yesterday. Daddy and I checked part of Mark chapter 15. On my little walk outside, I picked a bouquet of flowers. Then made cookies (orange coconut) and granola, and got supper. Put water on to heat to do dishes again this evening, and we noticed Silvia going by, walking with two sticks. Went out to see what was up. Devit and Abaija were with her. Her sickness has gotten a lot worse. She said the new nurse meri checked her, and said it was not good. Silvia looked very weak and thin, and was shaky. But she was happy. They joy of the Lord showed on her face and was evident in her voice. She is at peace with the Lord and knows that whatever comes, she is ready to be with the Lord. If the Lord takes her, it will be a hard time for Devit and the boys, however.
Came in and did dishes. Sat down a few minutes and crocheted while bath water was heating. Washed up and then played keyboard a while.
Anniversaries celebrate the union of love between a man and a woman, the beginning of a family, and sweet times of fellowship. One of the things Dad and Mom enjoy doing for relaxation is playing Boggle. Below are a couple of pictures of that game. In the second picture, see how many anniversary related words you can make from the Boggle board. Have fun!
