Hello to all our praying friends. Just wanted to give a little update on the work from the stateside perspective. Lately the Lord has helped us as we have worked on several projects. It is exciting to see a couple of these coming to completion.
The Bible says, "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. " (Psalm 139:14)
God creates and forms each little baby in the mother's womb. It is our desire for the people of Owena to see how lovingly and intricately God has made them. Each one of them is a special creation designed by God. Each person is unique. At the county fair last year, I was able to get 2 tiny dolls that represent the baby in the womb at about 12 weeks along. With these two dolls, some poster board, and some pictures and information from National Right to Life, I was able to put together a little display about the baby in the mother's womb. Simple picture booklets were made to accompany this display. The song on the top is a song that Mom wrote based on Psalm 139 and is in the Pidgin language. The picture of the unborn baby in the back was cut out of an election ad a couple of years ago. Below are a couple of pictures of the display. (The unborn baby "doll" is not shown in the picture. It will be in the center of the display. The display was not put together completely as it needs to be collapsed in order to be sent in the mail. So it might not look very sturdy in the picture, but it should be OK once it is put together completely.)
Another fun project was a simple anatomy book. Christy helped in putting this together. There is only one page that needs to be fixed, and then it is ready to send to Dad and Mom.
A project in the works is a nutrition book. It tells briefly about carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals. The book gives a simple overview of these things and covers a few of the vitamins and minerals and how they help the body stay healthy. Most of the pictures used in this book are from http://www.edupics.com/
Since my computer has been having a mind of its own lately, I have been experimenting to see if there are some projects that can be done without the computer. The first project of this kind is a study in Luke chapter 1. It has been fascinating to study this chapter and learn about the people God calls to be His servants. This study has been a blessing to me, and I pray it will be a blessing to someone in Owena as well. Here a couple of pictures of this booklet. For the cover, I used green card stock and a picture from an Easter Seals calendar. The cover does not yet have a title written on it.
Thank you, everyone, for your prayers. Lord willing, we will talk to Dad and Mom tonight. Have a great weekend! The Young girls.
