All but three of the kids were late for school today. Even I was a couple minutes late. I had plenty of time to do other things, but forgot to watch the clock. It was a good thing Daddy said something.
Only had a short nap today as there were lots of young people and children around making noise. They were playing ball and kept coming to get drinks of water. So I got up and got papers graded and grades recorded. Got everything ready for school tomorrow. Found music for songs the students want to sing during the special meetings. Washed a pumpkin for Daddy to cut up. Got it peeled and put on to cook. Made chocolate chip cookie bars for Daddy and got supper on the table.

December 18. It was getting quite chilly when we went to bed last night so we figured it would be another cold morning. I put the extra quilt on my side of the bed, and I was glad I did. The temperature was down to the mid-forties by morning. The Lord did send us more sunshine today which helped warm the house up fairly quickly, although it didn’t get really warm until late afternoon. The sky is fiery red this evening, but I am too tired to go out and take a picture. I only have a few minutes to relax before people come for choir practice.
This morning after breakfast and quiet time, I did some dusting and some rearranging in the bathroom. Then I did a little more drawing on the theme verse banner for the special meetings.
We spent most of our Bible class this morning practicing music for the special meetings. They have five songs they want to sing, with verses to recite that go with the songs. Don’t know if they will be able to sing all of them or not, but we will be prepared anyway. Next week when there is no school, there should be more time to practice.
I was thankful that we were able to cover a good bit of material in phonics class. Now that we do not do spelling in that class, we are able to cover more. We did a lot of drill in math class today. And in science class, we started studying unit four, Day Four of creation, talking about the sun and God’s purposes for giving us the sun.
There were lots of lessons and papers to correct today so that took a good part of the afternoon. Then I got things ready for tomorrow before making spaghetti for supper. Also husked and cut up a few uxai and washed and cut up some spring onions to cook with them.
After doing dishes, I had to clean out the bottom of the freezer. Meat juice had run down under the bags of bread, but apparently into one of the bags. So I had to get a clean bag out, and put all the loaves of bread in a different bag. One of the loaves of bread must have had a hole in its wrapper because the bottom crust had soaked up some meat juice. So Daddy put all that bread into a different wrapper and threw away the infected piece.
I had hoped to get a chance to practice keyboard, but time got away, and I needed to sit down and relax a bit before people get here for choir.
