December 17. It was a stay at home day for us. It was a good day to stay at home since it was a rainy day. A couple unexpected things did happen on this rainy day. There were big earthworms crawling all over the place in front of the apartment, and soon there were several of them crawling under the door and into the house. Daddy picked them up on a popsicle stick and put them in the grass to the right of the door. There were still lots of them crawling around on the blacktop in front of our place, but no more came inside. Later in the day, they had all disappeared.
About mid-morning, Daddy discovered a big puddle of water in the front corner of the front room, behind the end table and under the couch. Oh, dear! Water leaking into the house somehow. We quickly unplugged the surge protector which was in the water. Thankfully, the water wasn’t deep enough to have gotten into the wires. The lamp plug was also in the water. We haven’t tried plugging it back in yet.
Daddy called Bette, and she came down with a mop and bucket; but when she saw how much water there was, she went back upstairs and brought down some old towels instead. After she mopped it up, I washed and dried the towels so I can use them again if need be. (We hope need won’t be.) We did put one of them on the floor in the corner where the rain was coming in as there was still a bit seeping in. Thankfully, they discovered that one of the down pipes had come loose from the guttering, so the water was going down into the ground at the side of the house and seeping in. They put the down pipe back in place, and there hasn’t been any more problem today.
Finished up another set of ten lessons for Sunday school, and we will mail them next month. Of course, they still need to be proofread and corrected, and some visuals and memory verse cards will need to be made.
Most of my computer time today was spent at the new computer finding pictures that might be used in our presentation and putting them together in one file.
This morning, I also cleaned out the humidifier, made chocolate chip cookies, did the dishes, and (after dinner), cleaned up the kitchen. So I was really tired by nap time.
“1Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” I Corinthians 4:1,2
December 18. A little bit chillier this morning, but a nice, sunny day today.
About mid-morning, we decided we needed to go and do shopping so got ready to go and left a little after 10:00 for WalMart and Aldi. Lots of traffic today.
Finished finding pictures for presentation.
Christy installed Microsoft Office in new computer this evening so perhaps that computer will be more useable now. She also downloaded e-sword for me, but now I need to download Webster’s dictionary. The computer didn’t seem to want to do any more work this evening.
“6And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another. 7For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?” I Corinthians 4:6,7
December 19. Quite a bit chillier this morning. Frost on the car window. Enjoyed watching all the birds that were around today - cardinals, blue jays, chickadees, and others.
It was about 6:45 before I got up this morning. Had shower and washed hair. Ate breakfast and had quiet time. Did a couple loads of laundry.
Tried getting my e-mail account set up in the new computer. Not to come to pass. More frustration with that new computer.
While Daddy and I were having nap, Christy and Connie came; and shortly after we two got up, we four went to see Melvin and Jenny and the sweet new baby boy, Joshua Kreed.
“19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” I Corinthians 6:19.20
