August 19. Cloudy most of the day. Bits of rain off and on during the day, but rain showers late afternoon. The rain has stopped for now.
SIL came in twice today for loads of coffee when the clouds were high and the winds weren’t too strong.
Even though there wasn’t much grading left to do this afternoon, it took quite a while to finish putting paste-overs in their math books. And then I discovered that I needed one more set of paste-overs so got into the computer and got those ready and then printed them. Also had to prepare a veggie for our supper - carrots tonight (since that’s all we have right now, except for a pumpkin; Reson came by and told me she’d bring me some greens tomorrow). Then I wrote an e-mail while the carrots were cooking and leftover burgers were warming up.
Also this afternoon, David’s brother Philip got bitten by a snake while he was in Taianarava (or on his way back from there), and they carried him here to the health center. Haven’t heard how he is doing.
“Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.” Exodus 15:13
August 20. Some rain during the night. Very foggy this morning, but only little bits of rain now and then. Not much sun today and rain most of the evening. Daddy kept the fire going all day. My back is really hurting this evening, I was on my feet for so long before and after supper. I was very grateful for Daddy’s help with dishes.
Matthew preached in Amos’s place in the meeting this morning. Matthew continued the teaching in Acts, covering chapter 9, verses 1-9, Saul’s conversion on the road to Damascus.
There was a lot of commotion going on a little later in the morning down at the haus sik. People wanted to call SIL to get Philip out to the hospital, but nobody had any money. I guess they finally got permission from Goroka health department for a medi-vac. It was around noon when MAF arrived to pick up Philip. We were just amazed that he lived this long. His brother Ubet went out on the plane with him. Melanie had just gone to the post office and picked up a package for us from Christy and Connie when Jason called her to ask her to pray for the proper conditions for him to land in Owena. He was on his way back to Goroka from Sindeni at the time. So she took the package right over to the hangar to come in on the plane. We were thankful that the package arrived safely, and in just about three and a half weeks. Praise the Lord that he cares for the small things too, and takes care of all our needs.
After school today, Dallas, Sosthenes, and Phinehas cut firewood. They had two saws going at once so got quite a bit cut today and each earned K6. Just before they were done, they asked me to cook them each a pack of Maggi noodles. So I did that, and then started fixing our own supper. Washed up the pumpkin greens Reson sent up earlier today and cooked them for supper. We were really looking forward to greens as we hadn’t had any for some time, but they were really bitter for some reason and we could not eat them. I also fixed spaghetti so spaghetti is what we ate.
“17Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established. 18The LORD shall reign for ever and ever.” Exodus 15:17,18
Praise God for His mercy on Philip. Mom and Dad say that they do not think Philip is saved. He survived all night after being bitten by a poisonous snake and was flown to the hospital the next day. Please pray for His salvation and complete healing. Thanks.
