November 27. A beautiful day today. Nice and warm. We had the door open since early this morning. Didn’t need to run the heat today.
After my nap yesterday evening, I finished up the set of Sunday school lessons I’d been working on. Am thankful to have that done. Now copies need to be printed and proofread, and I need to decide what to use for visuals. It was just a few minutes past 10:00 when I finished, and I was good and tired and ready to go to bed.
It was 11:00 or so when C&C arrived and we started fixing things for lunch. I made a salad. Connie fixed baby portabella mushrooms for herself and me. She also made banana pudding. Cooked up some frozen mixed veggies, and we had leftover mashed potatoes and escalloped potatoes with a little leftover beef. Christy helped me make an order of photos to send back to Owena (and some for myself).
November 28. The Lord gave us another nice warm day today. After shower, breakfast, and quiet time this morning, I went over my notes again for tomorrow. Started getting income report up-to-date.
Daddy, Christy, and Connie worked on a computer problem and downloaded some other protection for our computer. Ate lunch. Had a nap while some of the downloading was still going on.
For supper Christy made pizza, and Connie made pumpkin soup and fruit salad. I wrote a thank-you note to the youth group for the Thanksgiving basket they had given us.
November 29.
There were quite a few ladies in the Sunday school class this morning. It was good to see Kathy B. A lady named Regina gave me a jar of homemade jam - zucchini-strawberry.
I praise the Lord for His help in teaching. I covered a lot more of my notes than I thought I would so I was thankful I had brought all the notes with me. I hadn’t really practiced through the rest of my notes, but the Lord helped me, and I was thankful for the opportunity to share my testimony (or the first part of it anyway) with the ladies who were there. An offering was taken up during class, and a love offering of $105 was given to me at the end of class. What a blessing! That will be a big help with some of my clothing needs.
Pastor Ogle’s message was very pointed and practical - speaking on Philippians 4:6, “Worry or Worship.”
After the service, we went to Lazara’s house for dinner - rice with black beans, green bean casserole, French fried plantains, sweet potato casserole, homemade bread. That was all I needed, but then she served dessert - flan (sooo sweet) and ice cream.
Lazara has let us borrow her van for this week for which we are very grateful. As soon as we got home, I lay down for a nap. Slept for about an hour and a half. Neither Daddy nor I went to church tonight. The weather had turned damp and eventually a little rainy, and I could feel it in my chest and sinuses. Did not want to have a relapse with this cold. Daddy is starting to get a cold in his chest so did not want to go out either.
We listened to (and watched) a message online from Franklin Road Baptist. Pastor Norris spoke on the story of Saul and the renewal of the kingdom in Gilgal after a victory against the enemy. It was a very good message. While he was preaching, I also started making some visuals for one of the Sunday school lessons.
November 30. A chilly, rainy day.
First part of morning, I spent time on notes for next teaching session. Around mid-morning, we went out looking for housing. Daddy stopped for gas first and asked about a map of Shelby. They didn’t know where we could get a map. Both of us happened to think, however, of the Chamber of Commerce. They had helped us in the past. We made a stop there (I stayed in the car because it was raining), and they were very helpful. Gave us a map of the city/county and some leads to people who may have housing available.
Went to pick up Connie and then came back. Found a parking place this time, but nobody in the office. Went to WalMart after that to try to get a computer. Even though there were two or three workers at the desk, nobody offered to help us. There was no information available with the displays. Then Connie suggested that it was cyber Monday and maybe Christy could help us order one online. So home we went.
After supper, I worked more on my teaching notes. Then I helped Christy proofread her English composition essay. After that, we looked at computers online. There were no sales on the computers, but at least there were descriptions of computers like we had looked at at WalMart. So we decided just to go get one tomorrow.
