“25And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much. 26And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day. 27Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies. 28And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the LORD. 29And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel.” (II Chronicles 20:25-29)
These verses mark the end of the triumphant story of Jehoshaphat and his people and the victory that the Lord gave them. There was fear and hard work and a crying out to God for help. But in the end there were riches and precious jewels and great spoil.
We know that God is stronger than the enemy, the Devil, that would seek to destroy His work. When God overcomes the work of the Devil and brings victory to His cause, there will be riches and precious jewels and great spoil for those who are on the Lord’s side. Perhaps there will be a new, strong church. Perhaps there will be souls, precious souls, that God will give to Dad and Mom for their hire. Perhaps they will have the joy of seeing the word of God translated into the language of the Owena people. But we know there will be great rejoicing and wonderful blessings at the end of the trial.
Come, bless the Lord with us for that which He is about to do. Come sing to the Lord with us with gladness, for the LORD will make Dad and Mom to rejoice over their enemy. Lift up the praise to Him with instruments of music, for the LORD has fought against the enemy of His people. The Lord hath made us to rejoice.
This is the end of these wonderful verses in II Chronicles chapter 20. I will try to update again when we hear news from Dad and Mom. Thank God that the victory is always His.
