June 2. Got e-mails in last night before bed. Found out from the girls that Linda Young (Lewis’s nephew’s wife) was in a hospice home on morphine and oxygen. Someone had gotten a cap and gown for their daughter Caitlin so she could have a graduation ceremony at the home for her mom to see.
Tomas gave a good talk in lotu this morning from John 3:16 and 15:9-13, about the greatness of Christ’s love for us, and His command for us to love one another.
After lotu, there was laundry to do. We were thankful for a sunshiny morning for drying the clothes, although it felt very humid, and I figured there would be rain later. I was almost done hanging clothes when it was time to call Christy and Connie. Daddy came outside with the phone, and we talked to them out there until I was done. They said that Linda had died in the morning (Friday morning there). How sad it must be for John and the children to lose their young wife and mother. Have been thinking of them often throughout the day and praying for them.
After we talked to the girls, I cleaned the chalkboard in the meeting room. Daddy swept the floor. Then I went through all the boxes of school books — again — looking for books for Bethuel and possibly for Mike for English. After that, I made some fish patties for dinner, and we had leftover pumpkin.
Got the clothes in after dinner and lay down for nap. It didn’t look like it was going to rain any too soon so we weren’t prepared for the rude awakening in the middle of nap when the wind started blowing hard and rain started falling. Had to get up and close windows, move computers, put out rags. Then it was hard to get settled down to resting again.
After nap, I worked on getting materials together for classes on Monday and getting some things done in the computer for printing this evening. Cleaned the bathroom before getting supper.
Eric and Bethuel came about the time we finished supper. Bethuel is going to join our other school students on Monday.
After they left, I did the dishes. Wrote toksaves and printed those out along with other papers.
Daddy has the fire going for heating bath water and said it is ready any time for our baths.
“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”
2 Timothy 2:19
June 3. No rain yet today, although there were some black clouds this afternoon, and it has been very warm and muggy.
After breakfast and quiet time this morning, I walked a little bit before starting on the next soul-winning lesson in the computer.
Because of his cold, Daddy had asked Matthew and Amos to do the preaching today. Matthew’s text was Acts 26:18, and his message was that God has called His servants to do His work, and there are five things mentioned in the verse that should be accomplished through the preaching of the Word.
Amos’s text was Luke 21:29,30, and his message had to do with recognizing the signs of the last times.
Matthew said that he had gone down to the "house man" this morning and preached there, and was well received.
It was a bit late when we got to nap this afternoon, but at least our rest wasn’t disturbed by a storm or anything. After nap, I washed my hair and finished getting things ready for school tomorrow.
Just before supper time, Janeth came and asked Daddy to come down and check the LP gas tank as it was leaking pretty badly. He was gone quite a while so I ended up having supper by myself. Had already started dishes when he got back.
Due to his cold, Daddy canceled soul-winning class for this evening.
