July 20. The morning dawned cool and cloudy and stayed that way most of the morning. Matthew was here somewhat early for lotu, but others were later.
Amos had charge of lotu this morning. We didn’t start until a little after 7:30, and it was 9:00 before we were done. Daddy will be assigning what each of the men will be teaching in the future. He is going to try to turn all, or most, of the teaching over to them; and he is going to write the outlines for the other books of the New Testament.
After lotu, my Sunshine girl and Bonnie girl washed clothes. Since we don’t have the use of a generator right now, the laundry had to be done by hand. The bathtub was a good “basin” to use for doing the job. Sunny and Bonita were each given a bar of soap, and they set to work. It was a big job, as the wash hadn’t been done for a week and a day. It took them an hour and a half to wash everything and a half hour to get them rinsed.
While they were doing the laundry, I made granola and made almond-flavoured coconut cookies for Daddy. Daddy taped down the pieces of linoleum he had laid on Connie’s bathroom floor and also put up curtain hardware for the bathroom window. He helped me find a curtain rod, and I hung up a lace valance on that window.
When the baking was done, part of the rinsed clothes were ready for hanging so I took those out and started that job. Hand-wringing, of course, doesn’t get as much water out of the clothes as the extractor does. Since the extractor part of the washing machine is only 200 watts, and the inverter is supposed to handle 400, Daddy thought maybe we could try wringing them out a bit more with the extractor. However, not enough power was getting from the inverter to the extractor through the long extension cord so we had to be content with hanging them as they were – quite wet.
We had no idea whether they would get dry today or not. The weather was still pretty cloudy when we hung them out, and there wasn’t much wind. When the girls finished the rinsing, Bonita brought the rest of the clothes out to me. And after the girls left, Daddy came out and helped me finish hanging them up. There wasn’t much left to do by then, but it was nice to have his company.
It was almost 12:00 by then. I got a glass of water and relaxed a few minutes in the recliner. Then I decided I’d better warm up dinner before I got too comfortable there and fell asleep. Toasted some onion and ginger root in a little noni oil. Then warmed up half of the tuna/lentil/rice meal and the greens for our dinner.
I was happy for nap right after dinner. Before we went for nap, there were gray clouds here and there and rain was threatening. But the clothes would have to stay outside. There was nowhere else to hang wet clothes. Slept about an hour and a half; and when I got up, I was delighted to see that the Lord had taken away the rain and sent us sunshine and wind, just what was needed for the clothes to dry. I thanked him for that blessing.
The first thing I did this afternoon was wash my hair. Then I got part of the monthly updates sent out. (Will try to finish them this evening.) After that, I cleaned the bathroom. Then it was time to get supper and do dishes.
“7….Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.” Romans 4:7,8
July 21. A cool, dry day. Only a little bit of sunshine. Quite chilly this evening.
I was thankful I had put the dry ingredients together last night for pancakes. That shortened my time making breakfast this morning. Made barley pancakes for myself this week, and apple ginger syrup to go on top. After breakfast and quiet time, I washed the chalkboard, covered the books, and locked the school cupboard. Daddy cut up the last pumpkin, and I put that on the wood stove to cook for our dinner. Then, until lotu time, I worked on notes for the students’ lessons in John.
Mike read from the gospel of Matthew, five of the youth plus David sang a special, and Daddy started the preaching. Today he covered 1 Corinthians 15:12-34 in the two meetings.
This afternoon, I got everything set up for school tomorrow and then spent a little time working on the drama for the end of school. I guess I’ll work on that some more this evening.
“14For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: 15Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. 16Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all.” Rom 4:14-16
