July 20. Another very dry day, a mixture of clouds and sunshine. Daddy kept the fire going most of the morning, but we did not need it this afternoon.
After breakfast and quiet time, I put a pot of rice on the wood stove to cook for supper and also boiled some eggs for our egg salad sandwiches for lunch. This afternoon, I prepared uxai, carrots, and broccoli to go with the rice for supper.
Most of the students were late for class again this morning. Only Bonita and Bethuel were here on time, so the three of us started class. In English class today, we started memorizing Psalm 118:24, then singing it, so now they can sing the song in three languages.
There was lots of grade recording to do today as, at the end of the week, I enter all the grades from the week’s work in the math workbook. This afternoon I started lesson plans for this coming week. Only had two days to plan for and then a fun day is in the plans for Wednesday. Have a couple ideas for that, but need to work on some more.
“14Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: 15Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; 16Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. 17For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.” Hebrews 12:14-17
July 21. It was very foggy when we got up this morning and drizzling too. I wondered what kind of a day it would be for drying clothes. A good number were here for lotu this morning. Matthew taught a short lesson from Matthew 26:65-70, about Peter’s denial of Christ. He had two applications. One had to do with standing firm in the face of trials. The other had to do with being forever left outside of God’s kingdom where there will be eternal weeping.
After lotu, I asked the ladies about Sani A. She hasn’t been in church for a couple weeks so they said they would go visit her. I told the ladies I was going to wash clothes and wondered if the sun would come out or if we would get more rain. They said they had burned off kunai yesterday so the sun would come out in a little while.
Then it was time to wash clothes. It had been a whole week so there were lots of little items. I waited until after the week’s wash before I changed the bedsheets. I was surprised that it didn’t take that long to hang them out. It felt good to get out in the sunshine. The ladies were right about the weather.
After hanging the clothes, I cleaned the chalkboard and then planned games for the end of term fun day next week. Worked on the game plans and gathering material for them most of the afternoon, except for making popo crisp for Daddy and cooking up my popo for pancakes tomorrow morning.
While we were eating supper, the LP ran out before the dish water finished heating. It had been 13 weeks since we last changed it so we praise the Lord for keeping our “cruse of oil” from running out until now. I finished supper and cleared up the table; and while I was waiting for the dish water to finish heating, I cleaned the bathroom. I had planned to do that after dishes, but it was nice to get it done before. There were hardly any dishes to wash tonight so that was nice too.
“28Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29For our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:28,29
