December 26. 9:00 p.m. Almost forgot about adding an entry to the journal. Weather today was a lot like yesterday, except a little bit less rain. Daddy had the fire going in the wood stove all day again.
I was VERY thankful to the Lord for a good night’s sleep last night. Went to bed some time between 9:00 and 9:30. I wasn’t all stuffed up, didn’t sneeze, and only coughed a couple times during the night. And I didn’t hear even one mosquito.
After breakfast and quiet time this morning, I practiced music for a while. Most of the rest of the morning, I worked on the bookcase. Measured and marked pieces of plywood for the shelves. Daddy did most of the sawing, and then I nailed the pieces on. This afternoon, I washed the shelves. Then I measured the piece of plywood for the drop-down door. Daddy cut it to size. He also found hinges and a hasp for it. I glued and nailed a narrow strip of wood along the bottom to make some thickness for the hinges. Also glued and nailed a small block of wood at the top where we will attach the hasp. Tomorrow I hope to start painting.
Later in the afternoon, I put some pictures into the Kodak file and got them edited and resized. Then I made biscuits for my supper, and then we ate.
The men went late morning to get a little bit more bamboo so they could make the last wall section, and they worked on that all afternoon after they come back. It is ready to be put up tomorrow.
The school students were supposed to come at 6:00 for choir practice, but since there was no Bible school again this evening, they didn’t come until 7:00. So I printed out a gray copy of the school logo so I can transfer it to the bookcase door so it can have the school logo painted on it. Worked on trimming the pieces and putting them together until choir practice time.
“21And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled 22In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: 23If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister….” Colossians 1:21-23
December 27. Last night the cold started settling down in my chest so it was hard for me to sleep without coughing. Also fought with both “dragons” (moths) and “buzzards” (mozzies) last night. So I was pretty tired today. Didn’t get much rest at nap time either because of the men pounding away out in the meeting room and also trying to relax without coughing. Hope I do okay with choir practice this evening.
Today was laundry day. Waited until after breakfast and quiet time to get started. While clothes were washing, I printed out some more songs that the students asked for last night.
While I started hanging out clothes, Daddy went for a walk to check out the airstrip as MAF thought about coming in today. The airstrip is very soggy so he called them back and told them not to come. I finished hanging two or three lines of clothes, and then moved things out of the rain and came inside. It wasn’t raining when I started, but I could see that it wasn’t going to stop right away and did not want to keep getting wet out there. Not too helpful in trying to get over a cold.
While I was waiting for the rain to stop, I practiced keyboard. The rain still hadn’t stopped so we brought the clothes baskets in and hung the rest of the clothes in the house. The clothes that were already hung outside were left outside.
What was left of the morning, I painted undercoat on the bookcase. The Lord sent a little sunshine this afternoon, and the clothes outside eventually did get dry. The sunshine only lasted a short time. Then more clouds and rain.
When I got up from nap this afternoon, I still felt tired and couldn’t concentrate on doing anything. Finally lay back down again about a half hour before supper and felt a little more rested after that.
“ Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus….” Colossians 1:28
